As an administrative assistant, you will perform various clerical, secretarial and/or administrative duties such as typing (letters, memos, reports, statistical charts), proofreading, prioritizing correspondence, maintaining files and records. You will also be responsible for receiving and screening telephone calls, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments and making arrangements for meetings, conferences and travel. You may communicate your manager's instructions to other individuals and obtain information from various other staff members and departments. Your duties are mostly non-routine, requiring significant judgment and experience to successfully accomplish tasks without direct supervision.
Skills include accurate typing and proofreading
Good PC skills (basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Knowledge of general office procedures (e.g., filing, correspondence, scheduling)
Good oral and written communication skills
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in confidential situations
Processes and applies specific knowledge to more difficult work assignments.
Up to one year of secretarial experience
