Business Banking (BB) is a part of Consumer and Business Banking (CBB) and is one of the industry leading providers of deposit and lending products and services to the small business segment.  The BB Sales Finance team reports into the Business Banking CFO and seeks a candidate with outstanding problem solving, financial analysis and relationship building skills to deliver full financial support to the BB sales organization.  Candidate will serve as the analytical resource to support senior executives in understanding and managing the profitability of the business.

 

Objectives of the BB Sales Finance team are generally categorized into:

  • Planning & Reporting - Provide timely and accurate financial reporting, explain results and variances, track against targets and ensure profitability goals are achieved, support broader BB finance team and CFO
  • Business Support - Support regional executive leadership teams with internal presentations and business reviews, ad-hoc business projects / requests
  • Strategic Analytics and Projects - Drive critical financial analytics to provide insights for management decision making, partner with other finance and functional teams to lead and / or support strategic business projects to help achieve business goals and drive market leadership
 

Responsibilities of the candidate will include:

  • Analyze financial results, provide variance analysis, prepare/coordinate presentations for quarterly management meetings and LOB business reviews
  • Provide business and financial support of balance sheet and income statement for Region, Markets and Areas
  • Deliver other statistical and field productivity data to support profitable decisions and strategic initiatives
  • Regularly and proactively interface with market and area management teams to advise, coach, teach, present and interpret financial and business information
  • Use business knowledge and independent decision making to solve financial issues and help increase revenues and pretax income
  • Advanced analytics on customer behavior that can help drive the business as well as develop models to justify business actions (e.g. staffing and/or product business cases)
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical problem solving skills, confidence with finance and accounting concepts
  • Professional maturity and personal integrity, ability to partner with multiple layers of management to drive a strategic agenda
  • Expertise in creating and delivering presentations to groups, and ability to manage several concurrent projects
  • Ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex concepts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and provide strong documentation
  • Excellent communication, organizational and judgement skills
  • Strong work ethic, proactive and results-oriented, fact based approach
  • Knowledge of Essbase, Business Objects, and Retail Banking Financial Systems
  • Overall branch knowledge and experience in analyzing the following areas: Balance Sheet, Net Interest Margin, Fee Income and Noninterest Expense
  • High degree of patience for working through multiple iterations of work, and dealing with the demands of senior management and the unpredictable and constantly varying subject matter of projects
  • Positive attitude / teachable / coachable
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 7+ years of Banking or Financial Services experience
  • Position requires occasional travel (approximately 2-3 nights/month)
