Executive Director - GSC Legal, Corporate Functions - Mumbai

Role

Primary role is to lead and oversee the legal function for JPMorgan’s IGSC (which has a footprint in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad).   

Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice to senior IGSC management;
• Acting as the legal representative and control function on various management, control and executive committees;

·         Providing legal support to compliance on RFIs and queries from regulators and participating in preparations for any visits by offshore regulators (eg PRA, US Fed and OCC);

• Coordinating support for the various LOBs (eg CCB and CIB ops) and Corporate Functions (eg GS&I, Finance, GTI and HR) carrying on activities in the IGSC;
• Mitigating legal and reputational risk to JPMCB by ensuring legal processes, work practices and policies are in accordance with global JPM standards;
• Working with OTS to establish and administer appropriate a risk governance framework for the IGSC;
• Collaborating closely and partnering with regional, global and branch legal colleagues on various legal matters (eg litigation, real estate, TPO, Sourcing and HR);
• Providing legal analysis and oversight for the implementation of any regional or global projects impacting the IGSC (eg Recovery and Resolution, OLO, Data Privacy Programs);

·         Managing relationships with external counsel with an emphasis of ensuring that JPMorgan receives high quality cost-effective legal services;

·         Managing and developing the human capital in the legal team in the IGSC to ensure that the team is first-in-class and develop professionally;

·         Representing JPM on industry-wide initiatives in the India BPO space to ensure that JPM’s views are adequately represented; and

·         Managing a Legal Center of Excellence which will deliver cost effective and efficient services to JPMorgan legal functions in APAC, US and EMEA.

Location

This position will be based in Mumbai but travel to Hyderabad and Bangalore will be required.

Requirements

·         Indian-qualified lawyer with at least 8 years PQE;

·         Experience from a financial institution’s captive offshoring centers, international BPO or a top-tier law firm;

·         Strong record of leading and managing a team and collaborating with offshore stakeholders;

·         Proven ability to execute transactions and projects on cross-functional teams;

·         Good track record of managing interaction and relationships with regulators;

·         [International experience will be viewed favorably]
