Oversight and Control (O&C) O&C, in partnership with the business and control functions, works to implement and/or strengthen the framework to consistently, quickly and sustainably manage control issues. The team consists of skilled risk and control experts who provide in business challenge and advice to enhance and enable robust controls. The unique position of Oversight & Control provides an end to end view of business activities allowing the team to better identify root cause and deliver better quality solutions as a result. Team is able to conduct cross functional control reviews and root cause analysis to identify overall enhancements to processes and procedures
 
Role Description
The role is to act as a Control Officer for the Solutions/Beta Strategies US business within the AM O&C team.  The Control Officer will play a lead role in identification, measurement and management of overall operational risks, and the development and implement of a consistent and disciplined control management framework for the Solutions/Beta Strategies US business. The Control Office will also support the activities of other Business and Regional Control Officers on various control related activities and initiatives with local, global and Firm wide implications.  Key areas of focus to support this effort will include:
 
  • Risk control self assessments (RCSA) – Oversight of the RCSA process and working with the business to identify risk and controls,
 
  • Issue management and resolution – compilation and analysis of control issues; review action plans for relevance and quality; actively track status of action plans coming due and escalate concerns as needed.
 
  • Regulatory and audit exam management – support regulatory requests and issue tracking and resolution; compilation of presentations to facilitate credible challenge process with respect to actions taken to address regulatory issues.  
 
  • Error resolution and management – work with business to remediate and perform/document root cause analysis, report errors to governance forums.
 
  • Controls metrics and reporting – coordinate with Control Officers to create/publish control reports to management and risk/control committees, as applicable.
 
  • Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) –Partner with business to identify/map procedures that demonstrate compliance with obligation & partner with broader Assessment Team members including Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Business to complete procedure sufficiency analysis

  • 10+ in the financial service industry with the last 3+ years in risk & control preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience within the asset management industry – products and services offered, distribution channels and asset classes (fixed income, equities, derivatives)
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations applicable to asset management businesses (for candidates in the U.S. this would include, for example, the Investment Advisers Act, the Investment Company Act or OCC Regulations applicable to fiduciary activities) 
  • The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, writing or advising on policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical capabilities, ability to synthesize data sets and identify key themes, propose solutions (comfortable working from a top down and bottom up perspective)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative problem solving skills – ability to approach an issue/initiative with a pragmatic, commercially reasonable approach to achieve desired outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, attention to detail and ability to target a wide range of audiences with credibility
  • Flexible, with the ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
  •  Strong collaboration, partnership and influencing skills, ability to effectively contribute to a team
  •  Possesses a sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness
  •  Ability to directly address/identify conflict and obstacles and escalate as appropriate
