Market Risk is an independent risk group within Risk Management, reporting to the Firm’s CRO, which identifies, measures, monitors and controls market risk. Market risk management seeks to facilitate efficient risk/return decisions, reduce volatility in operating performance and ensure that the firm's market risk profile is transparent to senior management, the Board of Directors and regulators. Firmwide Market Risk works closely with the Market Risk teams aligned to each Line of Business and other partner teams including Risk Reporting, Risk Policy, Regulatory Risk, Market Risk Middle Office, Business Middle Offices, Oversight & Control and Model Review to set Market Risk policy and a consistent framework for Market Risk across the firm, and to share best practices across LOB Market Risk teams. The Market Risk Basel Group was formed with responsibility for developing and delivering the operating model and framework for Basel Market Risk Rule implementation in partnership with key stakeholder groups.
Job Summary
The group is seeking a VP level candidate, based in London, to help drive the EMEA Market Risk Capital program activity. The individual will provide overall project management and business analysis expertise within the Market Risk Basel Group on key programs such as EMEA market risk capital applications and oversight of FRTB implementation for EMEA legal entities.
Job Responsibilities
The key activities of will include:  
  • Work with all functional groups (e.g. Quantitative Research, Technology, Model Risk Governance & Review, Finance, Risk Reporting) to develop and oversee market risk capital applications, and oversee strategic implementation plans.
  • Help drive impact assessments on the Firm’s position against key regulatory rules (e.g. CRD5/CRR2/TRIM).
  • Assist with the Firm’s regulatory relationship management throughout the lifecycle of market risk model applications.
  • Project Management – manage plans, track deadlines, issues and risk, generate initiative MIS.
  • Work in conjunction with other work streams building an awareness of dependencies (internal & external), identifying potential issues and presenting solutions.
  • Ensure effective internal communications among all the work steams and stakeholders ensuring all are engaged.
  • Gather business requirements from key stakeholders, and provide leadership to drive technology requirements and developments across all team.
Skills Required
  • Good understanding of Risk and PnL concepts (linear and non-linear sensitivities) across all asset classes.
  • Experience with risk management systems and infrastructure across all asset classes.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, ability to build and maintain relationships with functional partners and stakeholders.
  • Some prior experience with Market Risk Rules (Basel 2.5, CRR, FRTB, etc.) and prior experience in dealing with external authorities preferred.
  • Ability to strike the right balance in understanding critical project information, while still managing the project execution as a whole.
  • Ability to clearly define and articulate business requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation (both oral and written) and influencing skills.
  • Effective project management and change management skills with the ability to support and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strong time management skills; efficient at multi-tasking and able to work under pressure to deliver multiple business demands on-time, to a high-level standard.
