Overview

A critical priority for Asset Wealth Management is to ensure that high-quality data is available to run our business and meet our clients' needs. The Asset Management Chief Data Office (CDO) was established to define AM's data strategy and support for the core data used across AWM and needed to run our business.

 

The Data Analyst will be part of the Finance & Risk data domain and will participate in critical programs that align with the Finance & Risk data strategy. The Data Analyst role will focus on data analysis of various types of data required by the Risk and Finance AWM business. Data categories can include financial, risk, collateral, and other types of core reference data. The Data Analyst will work closely with program managers, data governance leads, business subject matter experts, operations teams, and technology teams to ensure thorough documentation of requirements, issues, data flows, data lineage, and ownership of data to advance the data strategy.

 

The data analyst will work with AWM business partners and Firm-wide CDO to analyze data, ensure data governance and data quality standards are in place, look for efficiencies in business processes, and work with our technology partners to implement solutions. The data analyst will be part of projects and programs to develop and adopt golden sources of data across AM businesses, reengineer platform functionality and operational processes.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as the chief data office (CDO) lead and support the data analysis required to land global collateral data in the data reservoir for consumption by AWM applications and platforms. This work requires detailed reviews with business owners and identifying the use of data and understanding calculations and derivations
  • Partnering with Technology to understand where collateral data already exists in the reservoir and ensuring that data is not duplicated.
  • Collaborating with AWM CDO and Technology teams on various data types and system of records (SoR)  (‘golden source’) in order to complete project & program deliverables
  • Performing root cause analysis on critical data quality issues, work with technology and SMEs on defining a solution and working through the implementation of that solution
  • Completing large scale data analysis, documenting findings and reconciling across data stores
  • Work closely with business partners to identify process improvements and leverage technology to automate and streamline existing client and account on-boarding processes.
  • Measuring progress against key project metrics, communicating with key stakeholders status
  • Supporting data domain stewards and leads in the data governance process including defining business terms, logical data model design.
  • 5-7 years of financial services or consulting practice experience, preferably in investment or wealth management  
  • Prior experience manipulating and analyzing large-scale data sets, performing root cause analysis, driving data and business requirements  
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills (e.g. adheres to best practices in meeting management, regularly completes tasks and conducts business with no supervision over email, produces review-ready documentation, etc.)
  • Skillset must include the core MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Strong Excel and/or Access skills familiarity with MS Visio and/or similar workflow tools
  • General awareness of data management practices, emerging trends, and issues
