Introduction to the Role

 

The Operational risk and Control team is responsible for managing operational risk and ensuring proper mitigating controls and reporting are in place across the entire international operation space. This role also includes conducting and implementing key initiatives to improve the control environment in Wealth Management and Asset management operations as a whole.

 

Our Risk and Control specialist will be required to partner closely with operations teams, Compliance, Internal Audit, respective Regulators, and senior management to ensure accurate and complete metrics and to build / implement an appropriate operational risk and control infrastructure for the business. Our Risk and control specialist will need to work effectively in a team environment and must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment. To be successful, our future risk and control specialist must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and have strong organizational skills that enable work prioritization accordingly.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops effective senior line management relationships and has a strong understanding of the businesses. Works closely with key business stakeholders, Regional COOs, Legal, Compliance, Business Management, and Technology on fulfilling responsibilities of the Operational Risk and Control team.
  • Applies an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships of business and how they impact the overall control environment and the operational risk approach.
  • Uses excellent communication skills in order to work and influence both internal and external partners.
  • Ownership and proactive management of the operational risk profile: Identify gaps in procedures and processes through a root cause analysis and liaise as necessary with the other stakeholders to escalate issues and recommend solutions for resolution.
  • Creation of Key risk and Performance Indicators to identify recurring control issues and track trends.
  • Assist in the production and reporting of operational risk metrics presented to Operations Senior Management and operating Committees.

  • Audit management and information gathering and analysis.
  • Contribution and proactive management of the Operational risk and control self-Assessment. Identification of the Basel 2 Potential Operational risks, performance of the testing of the mitigating controls to assess level of operational risk exposition, and ensure adequate preventive and detective mitigating controls are in place.
  • Help promote and install a culture of operational Risk management and operational excellence across Operations

What do we look for:

  • Senior level experience in an Operational risk role with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • A solid experience of Private Banking Products and services is preferred.
  • Specific and detailed understanding of the Operational Risk Management function and of the Regulatory environment and requirements (Basel 2…)
  • This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all different levels of internal / external stakeholders and management.
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills, in addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including prioritization.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership over "quality" and best practices around the quality, risk and controls process.
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment to effectively meet deadlines.
