The J.P. Morgan Global Research Analytics and Data team is part of Global Index Research within the Corporate & Investment Bank.  This team is responsible for managing and growing the analytics platform, in particular for the fixed income research franchise.  The team consists of highly skilled desk-aligned quantitative analysts responsible for delivering pre-trade analytics solutions.  The team’s mandate is to build analytics and tools based on our large financial market datasets to help our internal and external clients gain valuable market insight.  Our partners include FX, Commodities, Rates, Credit, Securitized Products, Emerging Markets, Equities, and Economics.  The team is located in key regions, with offices in New York, London and Mumbai.
The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with strong technical knowledge, business understanding, and communication skills who is comfortable working directly with clients, analysts and traders on a daily basis in a high pressure, challenging, and dynamic work environment. 
This front-office role involves a firm understanding of bond analytics, as well as liaising with various internal teams. We are a dynamic, diverse team of professionals with a fantastic entrepreneurial culture, where opportunities include: being a part of new business initiatives; developing expertise in fixed income analytics products; creating and discussing models; interacting with stakeholders/clients (internal and external) on analytics methodologies, and data management. The role requires the individual to demonstrate a clear blend of skills from data pipelines, quantitative methods, and programming to communication, problem solving, and teamwork. These skills must be blended together with a high level of attention to detail to ensure precise, accurate and timely delivery. This role demands a firm understanding of fixed income analytics and bond math, as well as liaising with various internal teams.
As a member of the analytics team you will be intimately connected to the markets and will work directly with clients, sales, trading and research.  You have the opportunity to gain direct market perspective on how data is used by investors and to understand their investment requirements.  Working with research strategists, sales and trading groups you will also gain insight into global market dynamics as well as the nuances of specific markets. As part of the team, you will also have numerous opportunities to grow and develop a diverse set of key skills.
To be successful in this role a blend of skills is required:
  • Quantitative and data management skills are required to analyze and oversee large data sets.
  • Client presence including both communication and presentation skills are required to interface with internal and external clients.
  • Project management and organizational skills will be necessary to multi-task on various deliverables.
  • The candidate must be a strong team player as all data dependent tasks require team coordination and management across multiple entities within J.P. Morgan.
  • These skills must blend with a high level of attention to detail to ensure precise, accurate and timely data delivery.
  • Forward thinking is required to manage expectations around delivery and product coverage.

The fundamental responsibilities of the candidate include:

  • The team manages the performance of thousands of fixed income securities that cover emerging markets. Although the day-to-day operations are managed by a separate operations group, this role requires oversight and involvement in operational aspect in order to maintain product integrity.
  • Working with analysts to expand our analytics suite in an environment where requirements are often pithy, time to market is critical, and compromising on quality is not an option
  • Harnessing the potential of our proprietary data assets to deliver innovative content and differentiating analyses
  • Managing multiple high profile deliveries simultaneously through effective project management
  • Building strong relationships with our partners in Trading, Sales, Research, QR, Data Science, and Technology
  • Leading by example and developing the reputation of the team through a can do attitude and best practice demonstration; proactive in sharing business knowledge and debating solutions
    • Minimum education and requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Financial Engineering, Computer science, or related field.
    • Superb organizational skills, decisive priority management, strong teamwork ethic, excellent verbal & written communication skills, ability to think locally & execute globally
    • General understanding of statistical analysis and data science tools and techniques
    • Experience with J.P. Morgan or other Sell-Side analytics platforms a strong plus
    • Experience with Python, R, Excel, SQL, Tableau or big data technologies a strong plus
