This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • Significant experience in both Systems Engineering and Software development
  • Proficiency in at least one of these disciplines:
    • Internals of distributed Operating System (Unix/Linux, Windows, Z/OS)
    • Systems programming
    • Network programming
  • Experience using large scale software development in one of these languages: (Java, Python, .Net, C++, etc.) This position requires experience with Java Script, Core Java
  • Experience using system and software security and entitlements such as SSO, windows, Kerberos, LDAP, Windows AD
  • Experience with new and emerging technologies such as cloud and virtualization
    Project Description:
    As an Applications Development Director for the Digital group, you will be responsible for building and driving a core group of highly skilled polyglot developers focused on next generation web and mobile technologies. Solutions built by this team will have broad national exposure to the millions of Chase customers. The ideal candidate will have prior experience running a team of responsive web or mobile developers. Additionally, the candidate should have a solid foundation in software programming, software patterns, experience across multiple languages and development platforms, and a strong understanding of software publishing models.
    Responsibilities include:
  • Building highly optimized multiplatform consumer applications.
  • Providing technical leadership and architectural guidance for design and implementation of software system enhancements
  • Overseeing team members and driving solutions
  • Reviewing detailed designs and participating in code reviews
  • Managing research and development into next generation digital technologies
  • Providing input (scope, level of difficulty, etc.) into estimates for features and enhancements
  • Identifying ways to improve design and development processes 
  • Working with other technology teams in solution designs and implementations
  • Take ownership and responsibility for key deliverables

  • Minimum 5-10 years of applications development work Java experience throughout the entire development lifecycle
  • Looking for Full Stack Java development lead experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in mobile development with transaction processing is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience working with JavaScript technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and architectural guidance for design and implementation of software system enhancements
  • Experience overseeing onshore and offshore team members (no direct management)
  • Knowledge of version control practices and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with, and across, multiple teams in a global organization
  • Experience crafting efficient, optimized, and speed-minded code
  • Experienced with prototypal inheritance
  • Experienced with object-oriented principles
  • Solid understanding of architectural software principles
  • Solid understanding of hybrid concepts and technologies.
  • Solid understanding of mobile publishing concerns.
  • Solid understanding of agile delivery methodologies
Expert level experience required with the following:
  • Client side JavaScript
  • Core Java
  • Knowledge and application of Design Patterns
  • Experience with one or more JavaScript frameworks
  • Understanding of logical abstractions
  • Understanding of one or more server side programming languages
  • Understanding of asynchronous & event driven programming
  • Understanding of test driven design patterns
  • Ability to communicate effectively and consistently share thoughts and opinions about work in production
  • Working knowledge of the HTML5 specification
  • An understanding of the most common Object Oriented programming design patterns
  • Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable JavaScript
  • Ability to create interfaces that are fast, consistent across browsers, and demonstrate an intimate knowledge of browser quirks and best practices
