The DevOps Continuous Delivery Engineer is primarily responsible for the design, implementation of an orchestration pipeline that all business developers will use when building software.   The orchestration pipeline consists of leveraging Jenkins, git, JIRA, and many other tools and integrating them together to form a cohesive automated pipeline for building software for continuous delivery.  Continuous delivery is a level of maturity for software delivery whereby the timelines from the point of developers checking in code to the point that code is deployed to a production environment is minimized and fully automated.  This includes everything from code review, code scanning, code building, unit test execution, functional and non-functional test execution, code packaging, and code deployment.
 
The objective is to increase the productivity of the business developers so they can focus on writing business logic and not have to worry about the environment.  The pipeline will be leveraged by the entire development community of JPMorgan Chase and must be built with the level of flexibility/performance/stability to support tens of thousands of developers.
 
Role responsibilities:
 
  • Implementing plugins and extensions written in Groovy and Python for various tools used within the software development lifecycle.
  • Working with business developers to onboard to the central orchestration engine
  • Integrating and testing orchestration pipeline on various environments (ie different language support, different OS support, public/private cloud support)
  • Experience working in an large financial institution as a developer
  • working knowledge and experience in Python or Groovy
  • Acted as build master for various project
  • Has worked in or knowledge of best practices for software delivery
  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal, at a level commensurate with the level of the audience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment contained within a much larger functional organization
