Chase is undertaking an aggressive Software Modernization agenda, which builds on the success of the current information technology platforms. 


The Chief Development Office (CDO) within the Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Chase line of business is looking for a Software Engineer Vice President to manage, coordinate and track our Tool Chain strategy as part of the Accelerating Development initiative.  This position is located in Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be drive adoption of key tools and processes that facilitate delivery automation across the entire CCB software development life cycle (SDLC).  The Software Engineer Vice President will regularly present CCB tools requirements and implementation timelines to the Firmwide Chief Development Office (FCDO), Firmwide Tools Product Owners and Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) engineers.   The successful candidate will also coordinate design successful implementation plans with CCB CDO subject matter experts (SMEs) while representing the needs of the CCB software engineer development community.  The successful candidate will also have experience in Agile Scrum best practices and continuous delivery automation.


This role would appeal to someone looking to step up and make a difference in the wider organization by helping to deliver on strategic goals with a significant $ impact.  This role will require individuals willing to defend and negotiate CCB tools implementation schedules.  The individual will require excellent communication and project management skills along with technical acumen when interfacing with firm wide tools implementation teams and end users.


CCB Tool Chain Engineer Responsibilities:


  • Represent CCB tools strategy to drive firm wide planning and infrastructure implementation
  • Regularly present tool chain and tools roadmap status to CCB senior management
  • Identify, track and report  CCB tools implementation KPIs  to CCB CDO’s
  • Team with CCB CDO software engineers to drive the CCB tools agenda in firm wide work groups
  • Document and communicate tools automation and process strategies with FCDO
  • Identify and provide succinct resolutions or appropriate work arounds to tools implementation issues
  • Project manage delays in tools and process implementation schedules through “Path to Green” recommendations
  • Represent CCB needs to drive strategic tools  initiatives with firm wide product owners
  • Drive, coordinate and report established EMR metrics to firm wide CDO representing CCB


The role has significant responsibilities, visibility within wider CCB organization and firm-wide as well as opportunities for growth. The role requires the ability to influence effectively at a senior level, work collaboratively and build partnerships to deliver towards key objectives. The role will:


  • Provide both needs and tools implementation feedback to Lead Design Authorities
  • Communicate tools strategies to the Software Engineering development communities
  • Represent CCB tools strategy, objectives and implementation needs to both FCDO and GTI
  • Get hands on as needed and recommend/develop process, component and tooling improvements (e.g. JIRA templates, updates to CI/CD tools, etc
  • 5+ years experience as an application development lead with strong knowledge of tools and automation frameworks used in Agile methodologies (e.g. JIRA, Bitbucket/Git, Continuous Delivery/tollgates, TDD, Selenium, etc)
  • Previous experience /role in process and/or project management
  • Previous experience in establishing and tracking project and program KPIs, accompanied by strong analysis skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple parallel work streams
  • Proven ability to work across multiple teams and operate effectively in a global organization
  • Knowledge of Program Reporting principles
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to represent CCB Tool Chain needs to strategic technology organizations
  • Experience preparing and presenting  effective presentations to senior management
  • Engineering or Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
