Group Description:

Within Wealth Management, the Global Controls Management (GCM) organization’s primary function is to (i) ensure a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment for WM; (ii) identify and escalate issues with a sense of urgency; and, (iii) partner with the business to ensure timely remediation of issues.


Global Controls Management works in partnership with the business, as the first line of defense. The team assists in immediate, real time critical control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation. In addition, the team works in collaboration with all other control functions – Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal.


A core mission of the team is to support WM’s execution of the firm’s 2017-2018 OLO Program. The Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) is a firmwide, global initiative that brings together the expertise of Legal, Lines of Business, Oversight & Control, Compliance, Risk and other key control functions, to proactively manage regulatory changes into our operations and allow us to trace end-to-end connections between laws, rules and regulations and policies, procedures and/or other documentation.


Position Description:


Based in London, OLO Control Officers (OCOs) will be responsible for multiple components in delivering the team’s core mission to Wealth Management overall, with particular focus on the OLO initiative. Working closely with AWM and WM Program Leads, OCOs role priorities for OLO will include:

  • Drive one or more OLO Assessment Teams to review and prioritize obligations for assessment ensuring accurate impact analysis to the Assessment Team  

  • Critically analyze procedures against obligations and drive engagement with key functions including Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Business to understand impact to the business and collectively assess the sufficiency of current procedures

  • Demonstrate ability to challenge the status quo and recommend solutions / enhancements to operating models and controls

  • Project managing and delivering multiple work streams globally

  • Coordinate across WM, AWM, and firmwide teams, as needed, on shared key obligation themes

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal partners and colleagues

     

Skills and experience required for the position include:

  • Controls management, legal and compliance, management consulting, or equivalent experience in complex financial enterprises; strong knowledge of private banking investment products and services, and related policies, procedures and control processes preferred
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations applicable to wealth or investment management businesses

  • The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing or advising on policies and procedures  

  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to successfully engage a broad range of individuals across various business segments and key support functions, to achieve goals without direct control over resources

  • Ability to motivate and gain consensus among team members to determine impact and procedure sufficiency

  • Exceptional critical thinking, project management, analytical and communication skills with the ability to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic business environment, and continually reprioritize to focus on the key issues / topics

  • Excellent skills using Excel and MS PowerPoint tools efficiently

  • Ability to learn new concepts, systems, processes, and initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills; ability to liaise with all levels of management
