About the Application:
J.P. Morgan Markets is an application hosting and delivery solution for both internal and external clients of the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB). It hosts applications across the entire lifecycle – Pre-Trade, Trading and Post-Trade.
The vision of the CIB Markets Execution API Program is to provide discovery and commercialization of API and data services amongst internal and external client developers, through cross-business self-service on-boarding tools and a data distribution infrastructure
The incumbent will play a key role in driving, managing and leading key aspects of the API platform strategy. The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, a technical approach to problem solving, and the ability to work with different teams in a constantly changing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and evolve the API Strategy to realize the vision of creating a scalable, cutting-edge, service-oriented, and protocol agnostic platform offering.
  • Remain relevant in the market and adapt to latest tech trends and firm-wide agendas, such as: integration with public and private cloud infrastructure, adoption of vendor platforms, self-service authentication/on-boarding standards, etc. Partner with Product Incubation, Technology, Security, Compliance and Platform Control teams to analyze and deliver such innovative technological solutions
  • Collaborate with API Product, Technology and Business to create a developer ecosystem for both internal and external customers
  • Influence decisions on platform strategy, client engagement and adoption by partnering with Business leads, Sales, Markets Execution, Client Services and Technology. Ensure tighter integration with clients across asset classes and business functions. Look for opportunities beyond the Investment Banking Markets scope
  • Establish relationships with Sales, Trading, Business and Clients to ensure that customer feedback helps inform the product strategy
  • Identify opportunities for vendor partnerships and drive the agenda of defining the commercialization roadmap for APIs by engaging with business leads
  • Analyze usage statistics and metrics in order to drive the product evolution. Provide regular updates/reports to key stakeholders communicating progress and define key metrics and success criteria
  • Establish a standard API Operations Model by streamlining client on-boarding, defining best practices, guaranteeing quality of service and providing  an integrated development environment in partnership with Product and Technology
Key Skills
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written) with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem solving skills and ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Self-starter, able to work proactively to achieve results
  • Technical mind-set with experience in at least one object oriented programming language and ability to conduct/contribute to tech-oriented discussions with developers, architects, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently, while maintaining a high degree of communication and escalation at appropriate junctures
  • Highly developed communication and partnership skills – attention to detail in written format and articulation in verbal format
  • Ability to articulate and present ideas/proposals to senior business managers, technical leads, etc.
  • Structured and analytical approach
Desired Skills
  • Experience in the financial markets
  • Commercially-focused and entrepreneurial
  • Prior Project management, business analysis or product management experience
The successful candidate should also possess the following attributes:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering,  Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter who is creative with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently, while maintaining a high degree of communication and escalation
  • Team player, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Organization skills, be able to prioritize task based on priority level
  • Expertise in trade-order lifecycle and trade management/operations for several product-areas
Experience Required
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a client-facing role
