Business Background
The Global Fixed Income Securities Cash Middle Office is primarily responsible for the trade management and control of both the standard and non standard elements of the business. Products include:
  • North America Fixed Income
  • Rates - Agency and Treasuries. Municipalities, Corporate, GEM, Securitized Products
Role Summary:
As an analyst on the FI Regulatory Reporting team your primary responsibilities include monitoring the timely and accurate reporting of transactions to the Regulators, reconciling completeness and accuracy of reporting, performing root cause analysis of exceptions and producing MIS.  The finding of these various reconciliations and reports are utilized to measure Regulatory exposure. The individual will have the opportunity to help develop action plans to improve performance by reducing exceptions and exposure to potential action by the Regulators. The candidate will work closely with Trading, Sales, Senior Management, Technology, Operations, Audit and Compliance. In this role one should be familiar with fixed income products, proficient with PC skills and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
 Main responsibilities
      • Understand trade reporting rules to Regulators, including the MSRB and FINRA (RTRS and TRACE)
      • Perform reconciliation and exception root cause analysis related to trade reporting to the MSRB and FINRA/TRACE.
      • Product coverage includes Municipal securities, Securitized Products, Agency Securities, Treasury Securities, Corporate Bonds
      • Working directly with the traders, salespeople, Trade Support, Sales Support, Compliance and technology teams to address issues/concerns related to patterns of exceptions identified in the reconciliation and root cause analysis.
      • Produce reports to be sent to senior Front Office management of daily findings.
      • Coordinate weekly meetings with MO partners to review previous week’s performance/findings.
      • Reconcile internal statistic trade reporting performance against Regulator monthly report card
      • Prepare monthly report for presentation to Front Office management and Compliance of the JPM report card along with the root cause findings listing responsible party for exceptions
      • Work closely in team environment to develop action plans to improve trade reporting performance
      • Understand system flow and front to back operations of trade processing including  trade reporting, settlements, PnL and confirms
      • Metrics reporting for upper management and control teams within the Middle Office
  • Produce adhoc scenario based reporting, as requested by Management
  • Ensures all issues are dealt with effectively and resolved accordingly in a timely manner
  • Drives Middle Office change management in coordination with Technology to increase automation and controls
  • Reviews, collaborates and prepares potentially new operational procedures in line with changes and developments in the business
  • BA/BS degree required
  • PC Literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Basic accounting knowledge is required
  • Able to identify and resolve issues with minimum supervision
  • Self motivated with strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self starting team player who is creative and reliable
  • Extremely detail oriented and controls focused
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude
  • Adaptability to learn new tasks & demonstrate willingness to understand the detail of a process
  • Understanding of the transaction flow: Ability to look at the overall process and explain it to others
  • Strong time management: organization skills and prioritization of tasks, setting own deadlines and working to defined targets
