Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the Firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. End User Services (EUS) within GTI is responsible for delivering all end user platforms allowing our users to access their desktop, applications and files from any location on any device.
 
The Security, Strategy & Architecture team within EUS drives a secure, unified technology strategy across the group including defining minimum standards of governance and control in delivering our target state architecture in support of the firms Any Device, Anytime, Anywhere strategy. To ensure we maintain a stable and resilient operating environment we continuously drive and improve our end to end monitoring strategy by developing frameworks and architectures to improve User Experience, Applications state and infrastructure monitoring.
As End User Analytics Engineer you will:
  • Join a small but dedicated team of engineers & architects managing our End to End Monitoring and Analytics Platform (Quantum)
  • Act as lead in designing and implementing our highly scalable, fault-tolerant multi-tiered enterprise class monitoring & analytics solution
  • Aid service towers in onboarding their services into the platform
  • Develop Splunk queries and dashboards and advise operations and engineering teams on best practices in developing their own queries and dashboards  
  • Participate in application/infrastructure capacity planning, trend analysis and performance forecasting exercises and propose recommendations to meet ongoing monitoring application performance and scalability demands
  • Partner with application stakeholders to fully understand each application environment, its associated infrastructure, and the specific role it plays within our product portfolio
  • Provide strategic tool(s) consulting to stakeholders to ensure current/future monitoring roadmaps align with Application strategies
  • Provide guidance and recommend monitoring solutions for recurring and/or ongoing production incidents affecting our end users or supporting systems
Key responsibilities include:
  • Participate in product vendor selection, proof of concepts, and planning discussions to ensure decisions include consideration of End to End monitoring views
  • Meet regularly with Service Owners and application stakeholders to understand the entire application portfolio and ensure current and future monitoring roadmaps align with application/system needs
  • Lead efforts to audit and remediate any gaps in the monitoring tools
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align tools to data elements and data aggregation
  • Create and maintain documentation specific to monitoring tools, on-boarding procedures, and data mapping/relationships
  • Provide technical oversight to infrastructure, application and project teams to ensure monitoring solutions are built/implemented as designed
 
 
 
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems.  Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter.  The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
 
  • Must be detail-oriented, proactive, responsible and demonstrate an ability for getting the job done
  • Keeps abreast of latest trends and developments
  • Must have excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Python, Shell Scripting and macro’s
  • Splunk Certified (preferred) or advanced Splunk experience in designing, developing, deploying & supporting large Splunk environments
  • Strong Experience in Deploying and Operating Linux, UNIX and/or Windows at the SA level with a strong bias towards automated deployment and operations experiences
  • Deep understanding of Distributed Systems and the supporting technologies including Network, Storage and Middleware systems
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Overall IT experience in a Client-Server environment, with practical knowledge of distributed, and desktop technologies
  • Infrastructure architecture & engineering experience, including functional and technical requirements gathering, and solution development
  • Advanced written and oral communication capabilities, ability to influence and successfully interface with executive leadership
  • Broad knowledge of advanced environment monitoring & management tools, performance modelling tools, capacity analysis tools, and other advanced modeling
