The Internal Audit Department provides the Board of Directors, senior management and regulators with an independent assessment of JPMorgan Chase's (‘JPMC’) control environment. Audit works closely with the Lines of Business (‘LOBs’) and their support functions to achieve its mission through the execution of a comprehensive audit program designed to test the effectiveness of the controls in place to mitigate the risks inherent in each business. The department is respected throughout the firm for the caliber of the staff and their ability to add value beyond the audit opinion. Globally, Internal Audit has over 1,000 auditors.


The Professional Practices Group (PPG) Data Analytics & Reporting role, within the Internal Audit Group will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing analytics, quantitative models, and reporting & metrics.


Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitoring and enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of the activities that are performed by the PPG
  • Support the teams in the process of design and development of risk based activities, with strong emphasis on data analytics, in an iterative manner
  • Utilizing Business Intelligence Tools, Text Analysis, Data Mining Techniques, and Statistical Analysis to enhance the analytical models
  • Understanding JPMC data and utilize the data in an integrated & holistic manner aligned to the requirements of the PPG team
  • Working with the teams and the IT organization to define, prioritize, and address audit related needs
  • Preparing team planning and performance metrics and reports for various Regulators, Committees and Reporting requirements
  • Assisting with the design, development, and implementation of global initiatives
  • Apply Project Management practices & prepare communications plan & status reports for key stakeholders with details of requirements, dependencies, risks, timelines, etc.
  • Designing analytics test to support audit activities, including Audits, Continuous Monitoring, and Risk Assessments
  • Actively participate in the Audit Data Analytics forum, and partner with peer Data Analytic teams & stakeholders to build relationships, and share ideas to add value to the Audit department and Firm
  • Comply with JPMorgan Chase technology and data standards and policies, and stay abreast of new tools & technologies to assist the team in creating the most efficient & effective data strategies
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years of related work experience
  • A degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or MS degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working at a Financial Services company or comparable experience as an advisor to a Financial Services company
  • Experience working in Banking & Capital Markets, Retail Banking, Wealth Management, or Asset Management; knowledge of Risk, Audit, & Compliance functional competencies, and Financial Products preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of technology infrastructure and associated risk and controls are a plus
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning, problem solving, troubleshooting, and process reengineering skills
  • Ability and comfort researching inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies
  • Experience working with large complex data sets, drawing conclusions and reporting findings
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering sustainable analytical tools and processes
  • Experience with working with end users to define and design business, functional, and technical requirements, source data, develop solutions taking an iterative approach, build proof of concepts, and assist with systems selection pilots and implementation support
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, end user service, and technical writing skills, coupled with strong interest in further developing and integrating operations with technology
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, work well in a team but also show leadership skills, manage expectations & competing priorities, be enthusiastic, have willingness to adapt in a fast-paced environment, understand sense of urgency, be effective under pressure and willing to take personal responsibility / accountability, have professional maturity, and work with limited supervision
  • Excellent partnership & influencing skills and the ability to be effective in a matrix environment
  • Proven ability to oversee several tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner with a track record in creative and successful problem-solving Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the following:
    • Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
    • Design and implement analytical solutions to meet the requirements by working with and analyzing large data sets
    • Experience using Analytics/BI/Reporting packages such as SAS, Tableau, QlikView, QlikSense, NPrinting, & Business Objects
    • Extensive experience of statistical concepts/models and experience in Descriptive Statistical Analysis, Data Mining Techniques (e.g. Segmentation & Decision Trees), Time Series Analysis, Text Mining & Analysis, & Predictive & Optimization Analytics
    • Ability to program (agnostic to language) and to balance technical expertise with functional or business understanding
    • Development and enhancement of reporting, compliance analytics, metrics, and dashboards Data Management
    • Working knowledge of database and ETL concepts
    • Experience with data extraction and manipulation techniques/languages(e.g. SQL, HIVE)
    • Data mapping and conversion
    • Experience with SQL Data Warehouse & Big Data (Hadoop Based) platforms, knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio, and Big Data Environment ETL tools
    • Extensive experience with Dataverse (new version of Lavastorm) a big plus Data Quality
    • An understanding of the data used and identification and analysis of associated data issues
