Chase Card Services, located in Tempe, AZ, has opening for Credit Ops Analyst II.  The selected individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have proven commercial underwriting ability.  Individuals in this position will be experienced, qualified commercial credit professionals with superior verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.  Primary responsibilities include:
 

I. Portfolio Risk Management:

  • Portfolio review / underwriting on existing corporate liability and high line credit requests, with a strong focus on credit quality. 
  • Portfolio management responsibilities include proactive identification of credit trends and weaknesses, completion of periodic and annual credit reviews, and initiating collections activity, in connection with overall commercial relationship management. 
 II. Project Management
  • Identify projects that will help further the goals of the department, using own observations, feedback from managers, and concerns raised by other lenders
  • Design the project scope, timeline, expected deliverables, etc.
  • Identify the team members to work on the respective project
     

III. Training and Development

  • Mentor/trainer for new lenders
  • Build-out lunch or learn or similar ideas to enhance the skills and engagement of the team
  • Identify topics of interest, training opportunities
  • Present learning topics in meetings
  • Work with other lenders to identify areas where they are skilled and work with them to organize presentations to the team
  • Availability to assist with development/delivery of other training programs
 
  • Proven ability to spread business financial statements/tax returns, perform ratio analysis, complete risk assessment and make sound credit decisions and recommendations via written and verbal presentations;
  • Experience in defending difficult decisions and in negotiating counteroffers, where appropriate;
  • Superior credit/lending and transactional knowledge as well as analytical abilities with little or no guidance required from immediate manager;
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years commercial underwriting experience;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers and with various levels of management;
  • Ability to work and lead a team environment;
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing volumes and areas of focus (new applications versus portfolio reviews versus initiation of collections, etc.);
  • Ability to investigate, recommend and initiate process improvements;
 
Preferred attributes include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline (MBA a plus);
  • Successful completion of a major corporate bank commercial training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance or accounting experience);
  • Previous experience with troubled asset evaluation and resolution
