The Workforce, Governance & Portfolio Management team is a cross-CIB Technology function which is looking to drive integration in CIB Technology’s structure and to ensure greater consistency in how performance is measured in alignment with Business & Technology strategy. Key responsibilities of the team include; management of the office of the CIO, Strategy Development, Communications & Engagement, Governance, Portfolio Management, Workforce Evolution and Vendor management.
The India lead for the CIB Tech Workforce, Governance & Portfolio management team will be an integral part of the APAC regional technology function and India CIB Tech management to drive CIB Technology Priorities within India, ensuring a clear, consistent and sustainable dialogue between global and regional employees whilst promoting process standardization and best practice. The successful candidate will also provide line manager support and oversight for a team of 8 within region.
The role is based in Mumbai/ Bangalore, India (based on location of best candidate)
The candidate will have a proven track record in governance, business management, business/technology partnership, change management, organizational engagement/communications and will have a structured and disciplined approach

Key Responsibilities:


Support the definition of W,G&PM Global and APAC standards to ensure they consider specific India requirements & drive adoption of them within location – Key focus areas include:

  • Strategy & Workforce
    • Workforce - Support optimization of the India leadership team and proactively identify and mange potential conflict towards achieving defined strategic workforce targets
    • Talent management - drive the country’s engineering culture and increase graduate recruitment
    • Creation of a CIB Tech Inter Affiliate Services (IAS) governance model to improve the operating model, and oversight of the IAS process
    • Support location strategy build out – creating centre of excellences within India and supporting the India restack
    • Identify and where applicable, drive out India Only policies to ensure alignment to the global model
  • India Communications and Engagement
    • Drive engagement across all levels of the CIB Technology organization within India ensuring it aligns to the wider APAC comms strategy & plan and is delivered through means with resonate with the local audience (ie. Newsletters, town halls etc.)
    • Lead the regional comms engagement council for APAC – made up of high performing resources across the APAC locations, delivering on the defined regional comms strategy
    • Partner closely subject matter experts and senior stakeholder to understand, develop and syndicate key content
    • Working closely with a team of writers, graphic designers, and video producers to help bring stories to life – especially around the selling of good news stories within India
    • Oversee the real-time publication of content
  • India Governance
    • Support the location aligned CIO with facilitation of key governance meetings and meeting the relevant information demands for them – driving successful management of local regulators & meeting location governance requirements – which span across multiple lines of business and organizational hierarchies
    • Use data provided to spot trends, identify themes and proactively drive remedial actions and escalations to the correct leadership member to drive corrective behaviors
    • Act as a point of contact to auditors as required
  • Resource management
    • Proactively manage a team of 8 India-based resources within the Workforce, Governance & portfolio management team in alignment with firmwide standards – ensuring priorities are clear,  feedback is provided on an ongoing basis and development plans are in place and achieved.
    • Ensure employees feel engaged with the wider team and regional priorities so that we retain our talent
    • Manage capacity across the team to ensure all facets of the wider Workforce, Governance & portfolio management as well as India-specific and APAC regional needs are met.


Key skills/ experience

  • 5+years of Governance experience within global, large scale financial institutions.
  • 5+years of resource performance management and development
  • Exceptional experience and proven track record in stakeholder management, partnership (enabling a ‘one team’ culture and positive working environment) and complex governance modelling across multiple locations.
  • Proven strategic capabilities and demonstrable critical thinking across business/technology vision, solutions, strategy, roadmaps and portfolio delivery.
  • Strong risk and control mindset, knowledge of maintaining effective control environments and a desire to help build a robust, flexible, sustainable structure.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to quickly broker solutions and resolve conflict situations 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels, including ability to communicate effectively with Senior Managing Directs to CEO-2 level.
