The Financial Control function is primarily focused on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm’s books and records with an emphasis on general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business. Some of the most common functions and activities that are owned by Financial Controllers are balance sheet reconciliation / certification, balance sheet substantiation and GLRS reporting & governance, inter-entity control & governance, manual accounting / bookings to the GL and operating systems and the month end close process & coordination.
 
The Financial Control Bengaluru Lead will be required to work closely with the Global FFC Cross LOB and CCB teams as well as  line of business controllers, middle office, operations, and technology areas.  They must have the ability to understand operational impacts and to aid in the development and execution of strategies to streamline and standardize operations, strengthen controls, and remediate issues.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing the day to day activities for Financial Control Cross LOB and CCB Business aligned areas, which includes but is not limited to Ledger Oversight & Control , allocation and attribution and month end close activities 
  • Leading a high performing team including all aspects of people management, which will encompass recommendations on hiring strategies and resource planning and talent development and succession planning
  • Ensuring appropriate metrics and control processes to manage BAU while also identifying and driving standardization and automation opportunities
  • Involvement with smaller scale projects and strategic initiatives around ledger migration and enhancements to systems or processes that are owned (CDGL, SAP CO, SAP, COFE, etc) or leveraged by FFC
 
Skills:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly understand workings of a complex processing system and general ledger systems across the infrastructure and their interrelationships and dependencies.
  • In-depth understanding of securities and derivatives products
  • Comfort liaising with business, risk managers, and technology
  • Effectively build and maintain partnerships within the various product aligned businesses and across other corporate financial, treasury, and accounting groups
  • Ability to understand business drivers and requirements and influence partners to deliver solutions to business issues
  • Strong understanding of the control processes and comfort in challenging the status quo to effectively identify control gaps
Required Experience:
  • 7 or more years of experience in a Finance or Accounting role
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (or equivalent experience), qualified CA / ICWA/ CFA preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization (including senior management). 
  • Proven leadership, relationship building, and influencing and negotiation skills
  • Established track record of delivery in a complex environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot tables, v-lookups) and PowerPoint, Microsoft Access desirable
  • Experience with programs of varying complexity with skills to drive business goals forward with an attention to the People Agenda and creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Have a track record of formulating innovative ideas and gaining buy-in from senior management in addition to a track record of execution/delivery/process improvement/leadership in a challenging environment

* * The position is based in Bengaluru however specialist may be required to be available during UK and US hours at month end.
