Corporate Technology builds and supports the firm's financial infrastructure to ensure finance professionals have access to the tools and information necessary to drive success.  In partnership with Global Finance Operations (GFO), Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) and others, we deliver solutions that meet the requirements of our key clients - the JPMorgan Chase CFO and Corporate Finance Organizations, as well as all line of business CFO teams. General Ledger (GL) team within RFT owns & maintains Chase’s General Ledgers across 3 regions : EMEA, APAC & AMERICAS. GL Technology is embarking on an aggressive agenda to consolidate disparate ledger platforms into a single Global SAP system that is highly resilient, high available and centralized. This multi-year agenda has a huge cost save to the firm and needs a consolidation of technologies, minds and processes into a truly global model to achieve those saves.  

 

We are looking for an experienced Java Technical Lead with hands-on experience leading Agile Delivery Teams in a Scrum Master capacity who can help guide a self-organizing team to the next level in their agile journey. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes ownership of the agile principle for continuous improvement and can apply it to help a team grow.

 

This candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and coaching a team of SAP and JAVA engineers within a Scrum framework in support of critical Finance Technology programs
  • Teaching and coaching JAVA developers to adopt Continuous Delivery practices such as Test-Driven Development, Specification by Example, Story Mapping, and other Lean/Agile Modeling Techniques
  • Object oriented analysis and design via common design patterns
  • Firm understanding of relational databases (SQL, Oracle) and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
  • Experience with web based applications via at least one major web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC, etc)
  • Developing and implementing best practices surrounding Java development via ‘Guilds’ (Communities of Practice)
  • Acting as a leader to influence team member to seek and embrace incremental change that increases team performance
  • Identifying and implementing agile metrics to measure a team’s Agility and then use those measures to help guide a team forward
  • Working with organizational leadership and teams to change and adjust organizational design to promote self-organizing teams within an Agile environment
  • Experience designing and developing high-volume, high performance, low latency applications for mission critical systems.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews/demos, retrospectives, and release planning meetings 
  • Promote improved team interactions, practices, and process through valuable inspect and adapt practices
  • Facilitate backlog refinement sessions to ensure robust backlog health
  • Act as a mediator and facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practice
  • Must have 8+ years of professional experience working as a Java Developer within an Agile environment
  • Must be able to garner respect from individuals/teams and be willing to get their hands dirty to get the job done
  • Facilitative – Must be able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team
  • Assertive – Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to be a voice of reason and authority, make the tough calls.
  • Situationally Aware – Must be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise, coach the team to resolve internally and if necessary involve management
  • Enthusiastic Engagement– Must be high-energy and be a source for motivation/inspiration for individuals and teams looking for support and guidance
  • Continual Improvement – Must continually be growing ones craft learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself and a team
  • Conflict Resolution – Must be able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches
  • Attitude of Empowerment – Must be able to lead teams to self-organization
  • Attitude of Transparency – Must desire to bring disclosure and transparency to the business about development and grow business trust
  • Desired Certifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) preferred
