Enterprise Systems provides technology support for applications across all lines of business (Auto/Education, Business Banking, Card Services, Centralized Transactions Operations, Commercial Banking, Consumer Bank, Consumer Internet Group, Credit Risk, Finance, Home Lending, Investment Bank, Treasury & Securities Services, Wealth Management).


The Enterprise Systems Data Distribution (ESDD) team provides integration services between the consumers of Enterprise Systems Service and the service providers within JPMorgan Chase. The organization is committed to developing cutting edge technology with high quality, innovative developers; within that vision shared technology team also supports a complex event processor shared service for analyzing system activity and producing actions resulting from that activity (e.g. customer notifications).


As a Java Software Engineer this individual will be a key member of the team within the Enterprise Systems Data Distribution team. The candidate must be self-motivated with a strong background in technology and a proven ability to translate business needs into data rich, enabled applications and tools. Technical and intellectual curiosity is required, along with the ability to pick up concepts and techniques quickly in order to execute projects and solutions. They will be part of an Agile team and be required to work on all aspects for application development besides just coding.  They also will build relationships over time with representatives from the business, management, and other technical areas that will be rewarding and lead to even more innovative solutions benefitting Chase’s customers in the future.



  • Help define the target state of the resulting application from a high level view.
  • Design, build and implementation of applications moving the department to that target state.
  • Be willing to take on other tasks like requirements, testing and analysis part of the Agile team.
  • Ensure the requirements needed to build are sufficient enough to provide the needed functionality.  In cases where there are gaps work with the appropriate contacts to fill in the missing parts.
  • Design the application in a way that both solves the problem and handles the exception flow.
  • Provide help and mentoring where needed. 
  • Understand the tooling that can be put around the development process to help ensure stable builds and stable processes.
  • Ensures that risk / controls, security, and data management policies are followed
  • Estimate within a predictable threshold how long work is going to take.  Understand the parts that need to be delivered by the due date and what can wait.
  • Contribute to the overall team strategy and find efficiencies in running different technologies.
  • Maintain a connection to technical trends.  Understand how and when to apply new technology to solve a problem.
  • 5+ years of experience in Java programming.
  • 5+ years experience with Web Services (SOAP, REST), JMS, J2EE and/or Spring frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of web-related technologies (Javascript, JQuery, CSS, HTML, etc).
  • Advance object-oriented design and design patterns.
  • Background on web and application servers such as Tomcat, WebSphere, or comparable J2EE servers.
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction and drive a development team towards that direction.
  • Effective documentation of designs.
  • Knowledge of open source packages especially those provided by Apache, Google, and Spring.
  • Messaging systems such as WebSphere MQ and/or Kafka.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of build/dependency management tools such as Maven, SCM (Subversion, GIT).
  • Database knowledge – SQL, table structure, data relationships.
  • Cloud deployment experience such as GAIA.
  • No-SQL databases such as Cassandra.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
