Big Data Architect/Engineer – Risk & Forecasting
Risk & Forecasting Solutions (RFS) group is responsible for calculating risk and providing forecasting solutions for a broad range of businesses and products across JPMorgan.  Our business problem can be summarized as: building highly efficient, scalable, and maintainable applications that are designed to handle billions of calculations on Big Data sets and performing analytics/reporting on this data for key stakeholders. Besides the technical complexity, our domain is equally complex that spans across Front Office Trading, Quantitative Research Teams, Risk Managers, and numerous other entities within the firm.
We are well on our way in reengineering our applications onto Big Data, Cloud, Machine Learning, and many other exciting innovative approaches to enhance our business value proposition. And we are looking for a very strong Big Data Architect/Engineer who can be part of this exciting journey.
Job Description
The Big Data Architect/Engineer will be responsible for supporting the team in developing and delivering Big Data solutions. This role is a mix of architecture, consulting, influencing, designing/building, and collaboration. The role will offer an opportunity to:
  1. Own and deliver Big Data solutions to address very complex business needs.
  2. Provide Architecture Support across teams in RFS (our team name) to ensure that the Big Data landscape development and adoption is consistent and standardized, yielding best of breed solutions.
  3. Work with Big Data forums across the firm influencing effective reuse of frameworks/solutions, adoption and design of patterns, and promote culture of collaboration across teams to promote reuse.
  4. In a nut shell, be that Big Data person that others look up to and reach out to for Architecting and Building solutions across RFS.
This is an exciting opportunity for Big Data Architects/Engineers with very strong experience in designing, building, and delivering complex enterprise Big Data solutions.
  1. 5-10 years of experience in Architecture Role(s) with key focus on providing Big Data Solutions.
  2. Very strong and deep hands-on expertise across Big Data Tech stack for developing enterprise applications handling large data volumes in batch and real-time environments.
  3. Ability to influence and drive consensus in achieving consistency, standardization, adoption/innovation of design patterns, and collaboration of best practices.
  4. Very strong expertise in Data Modelling and Programming (at least one of Java/Python/Scala)
  5. Very strong communication skills to be able to articulate vision and roadmap with senior management as well as other Big Data practitioners.
