Core Foundation Services (CFS) delivers measurable business value by providing core technology solutions that meet secure business demand while realizing cost efficiencies. CFS teams work with our Line of Business partners to develop standardized, resilient operating environments and implements through global technology strategies for the Firm's infrastructure.
 
Enterprise Management Services (EMS) focusses on the core infrastructure and application monitoring for the firm. The EMS team are seen as thought leaders in the realm of monitoring, automation and scheduling and work in conjunction with Line of Business counterparts to drive the firm-wide strategy.
EMS interfaces closely with GTI Plan/Build/Operate Team Leads, Application Development/Security/Storage/Networking Leads and Windows/Unix and Application technologists throughout the firm.
The Engineering Manager role within EMS encompasses the following key roles and responsibilities:
  • Leading a team of dedicated, technically excellent Engineers in the development of monitoring solutions to serve the firm’s needs
  • Coaching and mentoring EMS resources to help in their personal and professional development
  • Fiscal management of EMS platforms supporting Application Monitoring and Application Performance Management (APM)
  • Leveraging market and industry knowledge to set direction for Application Monitoring
  • Contributing to the selection of technologies to support JPMC Service offerings
  • Contribution to the assessment of vendor roadmaps and alignment with internal roadmaps
  • Engineering and support escalation for the EMS monitoring platforms
  • Ensuring all monitoring platforms and solutions are in compliance with all operational, security and audit requirements
  • Working with Lines of Business to identify and articulate business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Acting as a technical visionary both within the Monitoring space and extending outward into the firm
  • Communication of monitoring strategy to senior leaders within the firm
  • Developing solution documentation across the firm's Development, QA, and Production spaces
  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience of application or infrastructure engineering, including 4+ years of experience in complex, distributed environments
  • At least 5 years of management experience
  • Experience gained in the Financial sector highly desirable
  • Exposure/experience of Agile development methodologies including SCRUM/Kanban
  • Technical proficiency various monitoring tools in both the infrastructure and Application Performance Management (APM) space
  • Experience with Windows Operating system management and administration
  • Experience with Unix/Linux Operating system management and administration
  • Knowledge of web technologies (Java, HTML5, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies inc. AD, Exchange, Lync, SQL, SSRS, IIS, and clustering highly desirable
  • Database knowledge (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) desirable
  • Scripting experience desirable (e.g. Java, Python and PowerShell)
  • Experience of Microsoft Management technologies in the System Center product stack
  • Ability to influence a cross functional team to obtain desired results
  • Ability to initiate new efforts through requirements gathering and drive the engineering teams to completion
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong Project Management experience
  • Proven methodical approach to problem identification, problem solving and resolution
  • Results driven, ensuring short-term goals are achieved while supporting long-term initiatives with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Technical writing and documentation skills
