JPMorgan Intelligent Solutions (JPMIS) is a new group considering ways to transform and leverage JPM proprietary data assets into opportunities for JPM.  Protecting and managing intellectual property effectively as well as utilizing it to develop solutions that are both customized and scalable will enable JPM to create additional shareholder value.

Reporting to the Data Operations Team Manager for JPMIS Data Operations, the Data Operations - Data Engineer is responsible for executing the growth strategy of JPMIS by expanding key data assets with both internal firm resources as well as external data. The candidate to be results-driven with a passion for transforming large disparate data sets into actionable information. This person will be an integral part of building a best-in-class data management and governance framework leveraging Big Data technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong data mining and analytical skills, along with exceptional relationship management skills and commitment to delivering high quality solutions.
 
Responsibilities
  • Effectively partner with the Data Insights team to drive usage and improvement of the IntelliStor data asset that drives analytics within JPMIS and for our strategic partners
  • Develop Java code to handle large data sets including JSON, XML and CSV data
  • Write SQL functions to handle data transformations and processing requirements
  • Apply quality assurance best practices to all work products

  • Financial Services background or experience preferred across different LOBs. (Consumer, Commercial, Asset Management & CIB)
  • Proven proficiency with data and quantitative research techniques
  • Proficiency across the full range of database and business intelligence tools; publishing and presenting information in an engaging way
  • Intensive, recent experience in assessing and sourcing data needs
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to innovation
 Business Acumen
  • Consistently evaluates decisions in terms of impact to the business
  • Uncovers hidden opportunities in disparate data and translates them into actionable information
  • Technical expertise regarding data management frameworks and ETL solutions
  • Technical expertise regarding data models and database design development
  • Experience with SQL, ETL frameworks and data visualization tools
 Knowledge/Technical Skills
  • 5 years’ Experience in Big Data technologies and utilities (Hadoop, Spark SQL, Hive, Impala, Pig, Kafka, Sqoop, HBase) is required.
  • 5 years’ experience with MPP databases like Greenplum, Neteza is preferred. Ability to troubleshoot issues and develop functions in an MPP environment is highly desired.
  • 3 Experience utilizing and extending ETL solutions (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, Ab Initio) in a complex, high-volume data environment is highly desired
  • 3 years’ experience with scheduling & data integration tools like Control-M and Ni-Fi is highly desired.
  • Proficient in JAVA, Spring and able to produce/consume XML and JSON format
  • Proficient in SDLC process and Agile methodology for project delivery
  • Experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate
  • Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Knowledge of statistics, at least to the degree necessary in order to communicate easily with statisticians is a plus
  • Knowledge of Python or Java development is a major plus
  • Knowledge of industry leading Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience with machine learning is preferred
  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields desired
  • Overall 6+ years of experience
