J.P. Morgan Asset Management is seeking talented candidates for a position as a Project Manager - Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) - Vice President, based in Manhattan, NY.  This position will be a key part of the firm wide, global Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) program team, with project management and coordination responsibilities for a range of Asset Management business teams.
 
The Operations Risk and Business Management function , in partnership with the business and control functions, is tasked with coordinating and executing major control, business, and strategic initiatives across Operations.  The right candidate will be comfortable working independently and as part of small project teams in solving complex problems and implementation issues critical to the Asset Management OLO Program. 
 
Role Description
The Project Manager is a key role within the AM O&C team with specific responsibility for the successful implementation of the Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) program.  Key areas of focus to support this effort will include:
  • Performing analysis of Legal/Regulatory Obligations to enable efficient routing either by region or theme across Global AM Operations departments
  • Partnering with AM functions (Compliance, Legal, O&C Control Officers, Business subject matter experts (SMEs) ) to ratify the application of obligations drafted by J.P. Morgan Legal to the AM business, and facilitate the accurate impact analysis to the AM Operations Assessment Units;
  • Partnering with the  Operations teams to identify procedures that demonstrate compliance with each obligation;
  • Partnering with the broader Assessment Team members including Legal, Compliance, Risk, and the Business to complete procedure sufficiency analysis; Additional areas of focus may include:
    • Coordination with regional counterparts to ensure consistent approach for Global Teams
    • Loading functional results to the firmwide applications and assist with improvements to systems and processes as needed.
    • Tracking and follow up of queries identified during routing and re-route to other AM Assessment Units
    • Create Metrics and reporting  for management
    • Assist in overall communications on the progress of the program to date and any action required, as applicable.
 
    • 4 or more years of Knowledge/experience within the asset management industry – products and services offered, distribution channels and asset classes (fixed income, equities, derivatives), preferred
    • Project management skills and experience
    • Flexible in order to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
    • Strong analytical capabilities, ability to synthesize data sets and identify key themes, propose solutions
    • Creative problem solving skills to approach an issue/initiative with a pragmatic, commercially reasonable approach to achieve desired outcomes
    • Careful attention to detail to quality check own work and the work of others.  Flexible enough to do both interesting and tedious tasks with same level of enthusiasm.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to target a wide range of audiences with confidence and credibility
    • Strong collaboration, partnership, and influencing skills to interact with colleagues at all levels and achieve goals without direct control over resources
    • Possesses a sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness
    • Ability to directly address/identify conflict and obstacles and escalate as appropriate
    • Ability to multi task in fast paced environment and very results oriented.  Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
    • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations applicable to asset management businesses, a plus
