The CIB Chief Data Science Office is responsible for the design, strategy, and execution of the solutions for data science needs across the Corporate and Investment Bank. Its focus includes the technological, analytical, and product design requirements to create actionable insights with measurable business value across all lines of business and all supporting functions in the CIB.

 

The CDSO is organized in two distinct and complementary functions: data management services and data analytics services. Data management services partners with technology and the businesses to design and create the infrastructure to harness our disparate, hard-to-access raw data into an easy-to-access, well-understood semantic data layer. Data analytics services partners with technology and the businesses to leverage our data (leaning heavily on the semantic layer provided by the data management services organization) to create actionable insights that transform the firm.

 

The Role:

·         The Data Scientists in this role will be experienced both as an individual contributors and as team leaders.

·         They will help build a foundation of state-of-the-art technical and scientific capabilities to support and execute upon ongoing and planned data analytics projects:

o   Build an in-depth understanding of the problem domain and available data assets

o   Research, design, and evaluate machine learning approaches and models

o   Participate in data architecture and engineering decision-making to support analytics

o   Take initiative in evaluating and adapting new approaches from data science research

o   Implement advanced analytical modeling to deliver the data science content of projects.

o   Use data visualization and summarization techniques for conveying key findings

o   Communicate findings and obstacles to stakeholders to help drive the delivery to market

o   Build a team of data scientists around them, providing mentorship and leadership to grow the Data Science effort within the CIB.



Key Requirements:
  • Professional experience as a data scientist, quantitative analyst, senior scientist or a related software engineering role
  • Experience leading the development of data science projects
  • Experience leading the development of data science teams
  • Doctoral degree, or equivalent experience, in mathematics, computer science, physical sciences or other quantitative discipline
  • Thorough understanding of probability and statistics, Bayesian methods, time series analysis.
  • Experience of Finance, Banking, Insurance or similar businesses a strong plus.
  • Expertise in theory and practice of Statistics, Empirical Data Analysis, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of Python and other modern programming languages as well as statistical computing environments and financial domain systems such as time-series databases.
  • Experience in at least one specialized statistical computing environment, Experience in practical data processing, data mining, text mining and information retrieval tasks
  • Experience of scalable data management tools including Relational and NoSQL databases, Big Data architectures a strong plus
  • Great communication skills, team player, self-starter, demonstrated strong work ethic
  • Experience working with senior line of business leaders
  • Experience managing and leading teams of technical and analytical people.
  • Desire to use modern technologies as a disruptive influence within the Finance domain
