Description of role:
The Head of Media Relations APAC position will entail proactively managing regional and local media outreach for J.P. Morgan Asset Management, in collaboration with local market PR representatives, the broader global media relations team, and internal marketing and business executives.  This role will be very hands-on and will require a talented, experienced media relations specialist to contribute to the tactical execution of media strategy by:
 
  • Developing story ideas, messages and contributed content for media outlets
  • Actively pitching the media
  • Managing client crises and issues
  • Coordinating award pitches
  • Arranging media briefings for company executives and providing support
  • Acting as a spokesperson for the company
  • Initiating and cultivating positive relationships with regional media
  • Becoming well-versed and conversant in the products, services and thought leadership of J.P. Morgan Asset Management
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key executive clients, and supporting them by maximizing the value of public presentations, speaking engagements and business developments
  • Constantly monitor and record regional coverage for on-demand and/or scheduled global reporting
  • Package results to positively position the region within the broader media relations team and business
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of media relations experience within an agency or corporate media relations setting
  • Knowledge of regional/local media and well-developed skills in building and maintaining media relationships with online reporters, journalists, bloggers and editors
  • Crisis/issues management experience
  • A focus on client service and ability to handle multiple time-sensitive requests simultaneously
  • Hands on media approach
  • Proven ability to develop general pitches and translate complex investment material into consumer-friendly content
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; preferably in Cantonese, Mandarin and English
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Self-starter, results oriented , personable
  • Writing samples and media placement samples required
  • Ability to mentor and manage individuals
