The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation.  The department also includes the Office of the Secretary.

 

Legal is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm's lines of business (LOBs) and corporate staff areas, allowing the legal staff to work closely with specific groups on a daily basis. Each line of business has an LOB General Counsel, who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm's General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the legal teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the businesses and staff areas, and for the LOBs and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the legal teams in a timely manner. 

 

Legal Program Management Team consists of approximately 10 team members. The team helps manage implementation of new regulations across multiple LOBs, large scale investigations, governance and control initiatives, and process improvement projects. The team also helps, in a few cases, with traditional IT implementations. The team works with all lines of business and supports all LOB General Counsels.

 
 

The responsibilities of a Program Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Thought Leadership:
    • “Own” day-to-day project management and delivery of entire engagement and impactful recommendations and provide coaching to client teams as they implement recommendations
    • Scope problems, identify major issues and actionable opportunities, and design solutions
    • Define analytical approaches for projects and applying a range of analytical tools to synthesize insights and develop solutions
 
  • Client Leadership :
    • Partner with senior and line managers and other stakeholders on projects
    • Develop deep trust-based advisor relationships with key client stakeholders and ensure client is satisfied throughout engagement
 
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead one or more client projects
    • Collaborate with colleagues to build hypothesis sets, analyses, and roadmaps for solutions
    • Develop junior team members both formally and informally, including serving as a mentor
    • Identify potential roadblocks / obstacles and escalate issues as needed

A strong candidate needs to have:
  • An MBA or undergraduate degree, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience at a management consulting firm or in an internal consulting role, process re-engineering role
  • Strong client management and executive-level communication skills
  • Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions
  • Financial services background is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong presentation skills and the ability to influence and negotiate with others
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, effectively manage a large number of issues at one time, and interact effectively with senior management
