This is an analyst level position on the Global Real Assets Omni team responsible for working closely with the investment, research and business development teams throughout the $95bn+ in AUM Global Real Assets platform. The function of the Omni team is to design and implement global multi-strategy real assets and alternative asset class portfolio solutions that are customized to client objectives. To be successful in the role, the candidate will require strong analytical and technical skills, organizational skills, deep real estate and real assets knowledge, global perspective and ability to clearly and concisely communicate investment strategies to sophisticated investors globally. The position is to be based in New York.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Support the creation and maintenance of a global real assets relative value quantitative framework
  • Support development of analytics and quantitative tools/frameworks focused on real assets portfolio construction
  • Lead database design for creation and maintenance of a global real assets fundamentals framework; liaise with global real asset data providers
  • Develop, analyze and maintain time series returns, and fundamental/macro-economic data from various third party sources for custom collateral generation
  • Continuously automate the real asset portfolio construction and research/strategy aspects of the Global Real Assets Omni work stream
  • Create and maintain customized top quality collateral for multi-asset solutions oriented client engagement – e.g., flipbooks, market overviews etc.
  • Create and maintain collateral for a global real assets relative value framework
  • Keep abreast of competitors, how they are positioning against GRA/GRA Omni and how we can best position against them
  • Draft periodic top quality global real asset research pieces that assist in positioning real assets
  • Stay abreast with the latest trends in real assets markets, capital flows and client preferences
  • Proactively co-ordinate with the GRA and Alternatives investment, research, marketing and strategy, finance, legal and operations teams, as well as broader J.P. Morgan Asset Management teams to achieve the job objectives
This position requires the following skills, expertise and experience:
  • Candidate must hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree – preferably in a technical/quantitative discipline with training in advanced finance, economics and/or real estate concepts
  • No more than two years of internal or external work experience following completion of undergraduate program
  • Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall GPA of 3.2
  • A strong work ethic and a results driven team attitude
  • Strong programming skills: especially proficient in one or multiple database design and maintenance tools as well as general programming – e.g., VBA, SQL, C/C++, JavaScript, R, Python, Matlab, etc.
  • Expertise in asset allocation concepts, advanced statistics and economics
  • A strong understanding of global and regional macroeconomics and the ability to interpret them and position real assets products
  • Excellent presentation skills which enable the creation, maintenance and delivery of compelling presentations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a genuine interest in real assets
  • Strong relationship building skills for coordinating with existing clients, prospective clients and internal colleagues within Global Alternatives and across J.P. Morgan Asset Management
  • Ability to manage and support multiple competing projects efficiently
