The Data Management & Analytics group is the central technology organization that is responsible for enabling and enforcing superior Data Management and analytical technology across JP Morgan’s consumer and community banking businesses. As part of this function, we provide oversight for all technology projects to ensure excellent planning, design, execution and delivery; provide enterprise-level development resources for shared applications and services; and are responsible for advising JP Morgan’s management about the technology landscape. We provide oversight in various forms – from program/project management oversight to development and quality assurance to general architectural guidance.
 
The Scrum Master will be responsible for more than one agile team within the Chase Data Services (CDS) group.  As a Scrum Master you will partner with the Product Owner to manage and prioritize the Product Backlog. Facilitate and coach the Development Team and Product Owner on how to effectively use Agile/Scrum and XP practices.  The Product Backlog will drive the design and development of a core platform that enables the delivery and implementation for Data Management, Data Security, Data Registration, Data Ingestion, Data Discovery and Workload Management leveraging emerging big data technologies. This individual has a servant-leader mindset and understands how to deliver business value through using the Scrum framework.
 
This role provides an opportunity to be part of the CCB Data Ecosystem organization in the Chase Data Services group developing the next generation Hadoop Data ecosystem platform.  This is an amazing opportunity to be a key contributor to the Hadoop Data ecosystem transformational team and impact the CCB organization. To leverage the new Hadoop technologies, the platform is the key focus area within the CCB data ecosystem environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • As a Scrum Master guide the Development Team and the Product Owner to adhere to Scrum practices and rules.
  • Organize and facilitate release and sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Responsible for coaching the team on Scrum values and XP practices.
  • Remove impediments and/or guiding the team to remove impediments.
  • Host effective Product Backlog Refinement sessions to support the continuous delivery of the Product Vision.
  • Protects the team from external distractions and interruptions.
  • Enables close cooperation across all roles and functions, moving the team towards self-organization.
  • Partner and support the Product Owner to create and maintain an effective Product Backlog.
  • Support team to provide transparency on Sprint progress through JIRA Dashboards.
  • Ensure the team maintains a well formed Roadmap and Release plan for transparency to all stakeholders.
  • Promote and participate in the continuous improvement of structure, processes, tooling to enable the teams ability to deliver more value.
  • Adhere to the CCB CDO process and tool improvements.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of the product through unit, integration, and regression testing.
Requirements:
  • Excellent understanding of development concepts and SDLC methodologies.
  • Servant-leader mentality.
  • Strong facilitation skills, mentoring and coaching.
  • Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of stakeholders and senior executives.
  • Strong story writing and splitting skills.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
Desirable: 
  • Experience with other Agile/Lean practices such as XP or Kanban.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience supporting more than one agile team.
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Automated Testing, Pair Programming, Agile games.
  • Knowledge of REST web services with SQL and NOSQL databases.
  • Knowledge with cloud computing platforms and services is a plus.
  • Knowledge in big data technologies like hadoop, hbase, cassandra, spark is plus.
  • Knowledge of application development experience with Java and common libraries such as Spring, JUnit, Log4j and Jenkins.
  • Experience creating modern single page applications using technologies and frameworks such as AngularJs or similar javascript framework.
  • Experience in building Micro-services architecture.
Qualifications
  • Overall 5+ years of experience in delivering technology solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience as a practicing Scrum Master.
  • Scrum Certification is preferred (CSM, PSM I).
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
