The Strategic Markets Infrastructure (SMI) group is responsible for directing and governing investments and adoption of external solutions that will create business scale across the CIB, realize a change in cost structure, increase controls and comply with evolving global regulatory requirements.  The SMI group works across the CIB lines of businesses and extensively with industry partners, industry utilities and technology firms.
 
The Domain Strategy and Portfolio Advisory function within the SMI group is responsible for partnering directly with senior LOB stakeholders to advise and construct JPMs Market Infrastructure utilization and investment strategy.
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Strategic advisor to senior functional domain sponsors / stakeholders
  • Form JPM strategy around management of market infrastructure investments
  • Support active management of market infrastructure investments
  • Form pipeline of investment opportunities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for functional domains bringing in industry experience, knowledge of material market infrastructure organizations and operational expertise
  • Understand business process flows, technology and infrastructure related to functional domains
  • Opportunity analysis, solution development, business case development, financial analysis
  • Partner with SMI Strategy and Portfolio Management team and Strategic Investments to support deal and transaction execution
  • Coordinate and drive appropriate industry communications, partnerships and influence across JPM stakeholders and market participants, including infrastructure providers, banks, buy-side firms, consultants and private equity firms
  • This role will also provide exposure to senior management and senior personnel in financial institutions across the industry. 
 
The candidate must be a ‘self-starter’ who is able to independently work in a fast paced, results driven environment.  Additional qualifications:
  • Strong Financial Services / Investment banking product knowledge and understanding operational processing flows
  • Domain or functional knowledge including but not limited to Client lifecycle management, Client reference data, Custody Fund Services; Markets Product processing, Market Data, Trade processing; Communication and Execution Platforms; Sales and Trading
  • Strong strategy, investment banking, consulting / business manager skill set with the ability to define and assess a problem statement, collect and analyze data, form meaningful recommendations supported by data, run financial scenarios
  • Ability to think and engage in a thoughtful and logical manner beyond generic frameworks
  • Strong intellectual energy and critical thinking, ability to digest new concepts and subjects quickly, define critical details  while thinking strategically about the bigger, long-term picture; challenge the status quo and come up with practical and innovative solutions
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work independently to drive forward the agenda and deliverables in a timely manner
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools
  • Comfort with financial analysis, financial statements, business case development
  • Commercial mindset
  • Financial statement / financial modelling /cash-flow analysis / Investment Banking (M&A, ECM, DCM) experience is a plus
  • Understanding of corporate governance is a plus
  • In depth experience with Market Infrastructure provider is a plus
  • Attention to detail and dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to interact effectively and influence with stakeholders, communicate clear approach and framework and articulate ideas
  • Knowledge / interest of emerging technologies such as Blockchain, IoT is a plus
  • Experience managing junior resources is a plus
  • Strong risk and controls awareness
