The Beta Strategies Group creates and manages quantitative, rules based strategies across a wide spectrum of exposures including strategic beta, alternative beta, custom beta solutions and market cap weighted indices. Those exposures are delivered in a broad range of vehicles, including ETFs, mutual funds, commingled funds and customized separate accounts. The group was created in June 2016 to allow JPMorgan Asset Management to serve holistically the needs of clients who are increasingly combining active and beta in their portfolios and is one of the most important areas of investment of JPMorgan Asset Management.
Created as an independent unit reporting to the CEO of Asset Management, the Beta Strategies Group includes specialized quantitative research, index creation, portfolio management and client facing capabilities. The business already markets our existing suite of multi-factor strategic beta products (“Diversified Return”), our alternative beta range and certain market cap weighted indices.
Role overview
The Beta Strategies team is looking for an Executive Director to join the team in New York as a Beta Strategist. The Beta Strategist will work alongside the Beta Strategies portfolio managers to be able to articulate the team’s views, positions and performance to existing and prospective clients, including institutional investors and retail intermediaries.
Key responsibilities
  • Represent Beta Strategies’ offering in meetings with prospective clients, press and events. This will include client roadshows across multiple locations and 1-1 meetings with institutional investors.
  • Work alongside Beta’s quant researchers to publicize research broadly and engage with clients. Content will primarily be developed by the Quantitative Beta Strategies team.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Client Advisors, Marketing, internal asset allocation teams) in order to represent the team’s views and research
  • Extensive travel is required, particularly in the US
  • Minimum 10  years’ experience in Asset Management
  • Experience working with institutional and retail clients in a similar function
  • Experience in quantitative strategies, across asset classes including equity and fixed income
  • Familiarity with the asset management industry structure in multiple regions
  • Strong communicator with ability to talk passionately about investment processes and markets
  • Excellent stage presenter
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams including portfolio management, sales, marketing, etc
  • CFA desirable
