Ensure that necessary controls are in place and effective and serve as a consultant to GSC and appropriate WLS managers to oversee integrity, relevance and adequate performance of those controls
Develops and evolves GSC control strategy and approach including control standards and design of standards coordinating across the broader WLS Risk and Controls and other internal client organizations (CB Risk/CB O & C..etc.)
Leads the GSC Centralized Testing Unit function ensuring testing is performed as required in the timelines required.
Responsible to improve testing processes and controls and takes necessary steps to recommend new approaches that are more effective and reduce errors
Oversees control change management governance including communications with key partners
Participates in divisional or LOB control governance forums and ensures appropriate awareness and communication of any relevant changes across team and key stakeholders
Ensured end to end effective controls, documentation of handoffs and management between front-office, Risk & GSC teams & processes
Monitor key risk indicators and other control metrics to identify negative trends and potential control gaps; develop new data / information as needed
Supports controls development and deployment, providing ad hoc control guidance, key project participation, and support the introduction of procedural / policy enhancements
Lead the maintenance of GSC (non WLS) and support WLS Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), and where necessary, develop new RCSAs. In addition ensure entry, update and closure of action plans and risk acceptances are completed timely.
Partner with Operations Risk Management, Information Risk Management, Internal Audit and internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory compliance directives and calibration of respective RCSA ratings.
Maintain awareness of significant risk and control issues within the business and monitor the status and appropriateness of remediation actions. Validate the completeness and integrity of operational risk and control reporting and ensure proper escalation to senior business managers.
Offer control subject matter expertise and provide guidance as it relates to enhancing and analyzing existing controls; collaborate with WLS managers to ensure that operational changes are managed effectively
Maintain awareness of significant changes impacting the business, both internally and externally, and ensure appropriate actions to mitigate risk and modify/expand control the RCSA and other control activities
Lead, or participate in, other operating risk and control initiatives as needed
Serve as a key contact for regulatory or risk questions and with internal and external auditors as appropriate
Provide control coverage and assessment of impact vis a vis control adequacy for NBIA forums and changes
Oversees Post-effectiveness testing for adequacy of control changes implemented for any action plans
Maintain awareness of internal audit and external examination activity and emerging issues within assigned segments of the business.
