Overview

A critical priority for Asset Management is to ensure that high-quality data is available to run our business and meet our clients' needs. The Asset Wealth Management (AWM) Chief Data Office (CDO) defines AWM's data strategy and support for the core data used across AWM and needed to run our business, such as client data, reference data, product data, securities and pricing data, transactions and holdings, and index data. The AWM CDO is positioned in the Asset Wealth Management Operations division, within AWM Center.  We work with the AWM business and Firm wide CDO to analyze data, ensure data governance and data quality standards are in place, look for efficiencies in business processes, and work with our technology partners to implement solutions.

 

The Data Strategy Execution Lead will be responsible for defining, implementing and executing AWM CDO’s overall Data strategy for production, distribution and consumption of golden source system of record data sets, as well as implementing and operationalizing a process for line of business compliance with the Firmwide data management policy & standards.

 

The Data Strategy Execution Lead will collaborate with CDO data executives and data stewards, Business Management & technology partners (Chief Technology Officer, Application Owners) and will be responsible for managing the following three major work streams:

 

1) Strategic Data Adoption – Driving the planning and execution of data adoption from authoritative data sources to support consistent data consumption across AWM to meet business requirements.

 

2) Firmwide Data Management Policy and Standards Compliance -  Defining the implementation plan, data operating procedures and roles & responsibilities for AWM to ensure compliance to Firmwide Data Standards.   This will include strategic communications to shift the data management culture within the business, operations and technology, and leading the business changes required for the new business Data Content Owner role.   This change agent will work closely with Application Owners and business data owners to provide appropriate maturity levels across key areas such as Data Provisioning, Data Consumptions and Data Lineage.  

 

 3) Data Governance Program Management –Leading the agenda across business term lifecycle management, conceptual & logical data modeling, data lineage quality management and information governance.  This leader will be responsible for the AWM Data Management Council and provide key inputs to the Asset Management and Wealth Management Data Steering groups, as well as coordinate efforts across the AWM Data Steward group.

 

The Data Strategy Execution Lead will be responsible to create and manages the executive presentations to the AWM Data Management Council, Am & WM Steering committees and executive forums. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute data adoption strategy in Asset & Wealth Management.
  • Responsible for Asset Wealth Management Data Governance book of work and program management
  • Rollout data governance processes across Asset & Wealth Management
  • Develop key metrics and reporting that include key messages, control and operational effectiveness, and overall status
  • Prepare presentations and materials for key stakeholder and senior executive reviews including data program book of work forums, Asset & Wealth Management Data Management Council, AWM Data Governance & Data Quality Governance Forum.
  • Manage escalated issues that have not been resolved to the business satisfaction
  • Solicit input from business and technology constituents and achieve long-term strategic solutions for business partners
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders including Firmwide CDO team, AWM Business management, Risk, Finance, Operations and technology

       Desired Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years in Financial Services or Consulting in complex program and Stakeholder management
  • 5 or more years of experience in Data Governance covering data strategy execution, data quality management and metadata management
  • Knowledge and understanding of Asset and Wealth Management data such as client information, products, instruments and transactions information
  • Knowledge and experience in data privacy, operations, and technology functions preferred
  • Outstanding program management and delivery skills
  • Demonstrated track record of a high level of personal initiative and leadership, and of setting and achieving challenging goals.
  • Must be able to drive into details and abstract the detail for executive communication
  • Must be able to work effectively and build strong relationships with teams throughout the organization
  • Independent, organized, self-motivated and a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with a fine attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership, partnership and influencing skills – ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like manner and achieve goals without direct control over resources.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly define and deconstruct problems leveraging strong analytical and end-to-end problem solving skills.
  • Ability to think through and outline work processes in a thoughtful and detailed manner
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively; be proactive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses excellent judgment, knows when to escalate complex issues to senior management or functional partners with relevant expertise.

  • Advanced skills with the core MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Advanced skills with standard PM tools (e.g. MS Project); Familiarity with process-mapping tools (e.g. MS Visio, etc.)
