The Global Real Estate (GRE) team consists of more than 400 employees, executing 13,000 capital projects per year globally totalling nearly $2 billion a year in design, construction and capital investment.
JPMC is seeking an experienced construction safety professional with New York high-rise commercial experience to join its construction management team as a Project Safety Director. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge and experience that will permit them to manage and lead all aspects of project safety program. In addition, the successful candidate must possess the interpersonal skills that will allow them to collaborate with accounting, finance, and management teams.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage the development of all project safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with Federal, state and local regulations. 
  • Responsible for developing, promoting and implementing a proactive, positive safety culture.
  • Manage and lead project safety managers and inspectors in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Manage and lead the development of a project specific health and safety plan.  
  • Manage and oversee construction manager in development of a wearable technology program for the project.
  • Drive awareness and accountability for safety performance through all levels of the project organization. Provide support across responsible teams, including development partner, construction manager, project consultants and sub-contractors & vendors to assure compliance with project safety requirements. 
  • Stay current on regulatory issues/trends through seminars, networking, and industry group participation. Advise management on potential impact of proposed legislation; develop plans for compliance. 
  • Track and evaluate leading and lagging indicators and collaborate with company executives, site leadership, and insurance risk management services to develop and implement corrective measures and provide expertise in the inspection, analysis, audit and investigation of our safety practices. 
  • Assist the Corporate Insurance Services team with compiling all underwriting information requests and collaborate with broker and carrier teams throughout the coverage placement process.
  • Assist with claims management and injury management; liaison between third party administrator and insurance provider. 
  • Assist with the development of safety requirements and related work rules to be included in the project labor agreement(s).
  • Manage reporting and investigation of all accidents/incidents and assist with effective corrective measures. 
  • Participate in the Company Drug and Alcohol Program, and stay current on client DOT regulations and requirements. 
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in construction safety and loss prevention.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 10 hour and 30 hour OSHA construction training
  • Self-starter with the ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment
  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation, and sense of urgency
  • Strong control orientation, analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate risks and requirements to all levels of project team and senior management
  • Solid organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Financial services, real estate development, construction industry and/or consulting experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive improvements related to construction project risk and compliance monitoring and testing processes based on current best practices
