The Credit Derivatives Middle Office is primarily responsible for the trade management and controls of both standard and complex derivative activity.  A middle office associate is responsible for the strict control of trades and for liaising with both internal and external contacts, escalating to management where appropriate. Middle office works independently from the Front Office and is key to the control of the business, ensuring the highest level of quality is achieved at all times. The candidate will work closely with senior management across Trading, Sales, Technology, Operations, Audit and Compliance. In this role one should be familiar with credit derivative products, proficient with PC skills and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment. 
 
Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Provide operational support for the NA SPG businesses covering MBS Single Name / Index , Corporate Single Name / Index, Index Options, Tranches, and TRS products
  • Accurate & timely management of workflows
  • Acting as a primary support contact to ensure all front office and counterparty requests are handled with satisfaction.
  • Liaising with front office, middle office, credit, documentation, and settlements teams to resolve client trade breaks.
  • Assist with projects related to improving current processes to raise productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in the strategic middle office working group responsible for designing, building and implementing our future middle office model
  • Identify Control weaknesses in everyday processes; develop & implement procedures that mitigate associated risks.
  • Being knowledgeable of the various regional regulatory requirements that govern CDS transactions and use their discretion to ensure that any potential breaches are escalated / remediated appropriately
  • Reconciliation of trades between front and back end trading systems

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

  • General understanding of Risk & PnL
  • Strong control focus - ability to understand and highlight operational risk
  • A flexible proactive attitude towards work balanced with effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to contribute to the ongoing development of processes
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Motivated, positive “can do” attitude
  • Proven ability to learn quickly
 
Business-specific experience in the following:
  • Derivatives products, ideally CDS
  • Regulatory knowledge
  • Central Clearing experience
  • Trade affirmation and confirmation -  DTCC/Markitwire & Ice Link
