The Team
The Data Privacy and Technology Compliance  team is responsible for managing compliance risk management programs related to privacy and technology risk, reporting to relevant governance committees and/or senior management in relation to such risks, designing and executing risk mitigation strategies, developing and conducting training, managing internal audit and relevant regulatory exams.  This includes provision of advice, implementation of policies and/or controls, development/provision of training and oversight of operational processes relating to Data Privacy, Third Party and Internal Affiliate Outsourcing/Offshoring, Technology and Cyber risk.
The Role
Responsibilities will include: 

  • Working as part of Global and EMEA Data Privacy/Protection team, assist in the implementation of the Data Privacy/Protection Compliance Program for Corporate Investment Bank & Wealth Management in EMEA
  • Working with Compliance Regulatory Change Management, provide advice/guidance in relation to regulatory changes,  which relates Data Privacy and/or technology risks and the impact that this will have on the firm
  • Working with Compliance Policies team, develop and maintain policies to address relevant regulatory requirements/best practices in relation to Data Privacy and/or Technology related risks
  • Advise colleagues in the front-office, business management, LOB Compliance/Compliance Practices, Internal Audit, and Risk in relation to Date Privacy and Technology risks/policies/issues.
  • Liaise with Regulators as required on Data Protection and Technology
  • Under the oversight of the EMEA Data Privacy Director, assist in conducting Privacy risk assessments and tests associated with new business or products.
  • Management and resolution of data subject access requests and eDiscovery restoration requests.
  • Compiling management information and analysing trends.
  • Providing compliance advice on assigned Corporate / cross-LOB / regional Technology projects.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of a training and communication program to ensure that employees are familiar with relevant policies
  • Where appropriate participate in Industry Committees and Forums as needed to support the Data Privacy/Protection agenda and to ensure knowledge of relevant regulations and market practice remains up to date
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of current and future Privacy and Technology regulations impacting the EMEA region.
  • Develop and maintain links with the management for IT Risk, Cybersecurity and Global Security and Investigations functions.

Role Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required (work experience in the field of privacy and data protection).
  • Demonstrate an ability to interpret regulations and regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant experience in a Control, Compliance, Legal, Risk or Audit related environment.
  • Experience of Privacy, data protection or information security related issues
  • Excellent organizational skill and the ability to manage, prioritise, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of the Data Protection and Privacy obligations in the EMEA regulations, including attainment of relevant certifications or willingness to work towards relevant CIPP certification once in role
  • Reasonable working knowledge of technology related controls and security measures
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, in particular, being able to effectively communicate clearly and concisely
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnership with senior business/compliance partners.
  • Robust analytical skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative style and ability to partner with people across a diverse and global organization.
  • Be comfortable interacting with, and presenting to, senior business management and control functions.
  • High energy and ability to execute in deadline-driven environment.
