Within the CIB, Credit Risk Management is responsible for managing credit exposure generated by lending, trading, cash management and other activities. The group is organized by geography with teams aligned by industry. CIB Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship in partnership with CIB Coverage, Global Corporate Banking, Investment Grade & Leveraged Finance, Securitized Products, Sales & Trading, Treasury & Security Services, Legal, etc.
The Specialty Finance and Asset Backed Securities Credit Risk Team work with a client base of leaders in the North American consumer finance, mortgage, auto finance industries and middle market lenders. The team manages credit exposure where the repayment is 1) direct recourse based on the credit worthiness of the counterparty or 2) non-recourse based on a stream of cash flows provided by a pool of financial assets. The team is looking for an Analyst with strong analytical skills and knowledge of accounting and corporate finance in Chicago.  New members joining the team develop the analytical skills needed to evaluate, assess and document client creditworthiness as well as structure and negotiate new transactions/requests.
Job Responsibilities:
Analysts are assigned to cover a portfolio of clients on an ongoing basis with primary responsibility for performing credit analysis and client exposure management. Specific duties include:
  • Developing a well-informed and forward looking view of the client business or the securitized financial assets
  • Remaining current on all aspects of the assigned credit portfolio, including industry trends, portfolio performance, compliance, potential problems and opportunities
  • Preparing and presenting credit approval memos in connection with transactions and annual reviews, by:
    • Performing financial analysis including stress testing, projections and peer comparisons
    • Assessing creditworthiness of clients and recommending appropriate credit ratings
    • Assessing cash flows of a specific pool of securitized assets
    • Describing the structure and terms of products and analyzing related risk metrics
  • Participating in on-site or telephonic client diligence meetings
  • Processing transactions and annual reviews in the credit system (ICRD) by coordinating with middle office and business partners in a timely manner
  • Monitoring, investigating and escalating risk metrics associated with client activity
  • Preparing and presenting periodic portfolio reviews to senior credit executives and business partners
  • Lead ad hoc team projects
  • Highly motivated with a natural passion to learn and an inquisitive personality
  • Professional work experience in financial services or asset backed securities preferred
  • Credit risk management experience preferred
  • Corporate finance and accounting coursework
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
  • Interest in client interaction with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of understanding, describing and debating complex concepts
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment managing multiple tasks at the same time
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word software
