Department Description:
Operating in a dynamic and fast moving environment, this group is part of CIB Credit Risk Management. It is accountable for the execution of applicable policies and the credit control oversight of trade finance activities which is a key component of the GCB growth strategy.  The team prime responsibility is to approve individual trade finance transactions (credit and non credit), monitor & report of credit exposure, partner with business for development of NBIA, sanction policy exceptions. The portfolio is made up of banks and corporates and encompasses a wide range of markets within the EMEA region.
 Key Responsibilities:
 Based in London, the incumbent will assist in the execution of the Trade Risk agenda regionally, including monitoring the portfolio and administering as well as supervising the risk policy approval process and co-ordinating training efforts on various trade products. The position requires close partnership with Trade Management, trade sales, advisory, Global Credit Risk Management, legal, compliance and operation functions.  The role also calls to drive a strong risk culture and to independently identify, assess and address risk issues as they arise.
  • Recommend or approve trade transactions within delegated authority across the assigned portfolio and monitor exposure.  
  • Provide risk management decision on variations from standard documentation and/or product policy & guidelines.
  • Assist sales & Bankers on requests to the Credit team for credit lines to support new business and advise Credit on suitability of product for a given counterparty or suitability of the structure at transaction level.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to approve new structure, policy exceptions and  control solutions –
  • Conduct regular detailed risk control review of the portfolio by country, client and/ or products.
  • Participate in Regional Risk & Country Committees.
  • Interact with Trade sales lead team to voice risk views and solutions to transactions in the pipeline.
  • Partner with counterparts in other regions to share best practices.
  • Over time provide training on trade products & associated risks to JPM internal partners.
  • Attend Industry Events.  
  • Attend and Contribute to various Business forums & committees where Trade Risk is a voting member.
Essential Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Credit Risk role including documentation negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a time-sensitive environment whilst multi- tasking is a must have.
  • Curious intellectual & business acumen with willingness to take a leading role in a wide range of initiatives and drive solutions.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) at all levels of the organisation.
  • Good interpersonal skills with aptitude to influence decision process and align risk strategy with business objectives.  
  • Self- starter with demonstrated track record in successfully leading collaborative efforts with other constituents who may have different backgrounds, risk understanding, skill sets and priorities.
 Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of key EMEA markets, especially emerging markets.
  • Basic understanding of key traditional trade instruments and the various risks associated with them preferable.
  • Fluency in an additional foreign language preferred.
Education / professional qualifications:
  • A 2.1 Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics and/or Economics.
  • Preferably with a Master’s Degree with Major in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics and/or Economics.
