CTC Risk is an independent risk function managing firmwide Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk. CTC Risk also oversees the risk of the retained portfolio generated from the Chief Investment Office (CIO), Treasury and Corporate (CTC) businesses, and is responsible for the end to end risk framework within the Treasury & CIO (includes Market, Credit & Operational Risk, as well as Retirement plans & BOLI COLI risk). In addition, CTC Risk partners with firmwide Principal, Model Governance & Review, Country and Reputation Risk for oversight of the corresponding risks within CTC. CTC Chief Risk Officer (CRO) reports directly to the firmwide CRO and is also the CRO for the unconsolidated HoldCo JPMorgan Chase & Co.
 
Liquidity Risk Oversight is an independent risk management function having responsibility for firmwide oversight with the Global head of LRO reporting to the CTC CRO. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
 
  • Establishing and monitoring limits, indicators, and thresholds, including liquidity appetite tolerances;
  • Defining, monitoring, and reporting internal firmwide and legal entity stress tests, and monitoring and reporting regulatory defined stress testing;
  • Monitoring and reporting liquidity positions, balance sheet variances and funding activities;
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis to identify potential emerging liquidity risks.
LRO participates in critical projects, including regulatory submissions such as Recovery & Resolution, CLAR (Comprehensive Liquidity Analysis & Review), ILAAP (Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process), among others.
 
Description
 
CTC seeks to hire an Executive Director to join its LRO function focusing on Intraday Liquidity Risk Oversight. This individual will lead a team and participate in liquidity risk related matters, including overall firm-wide intraday liquidity measuring, monitoring, reporting, policy setting and risk management. In addition, the individual will frequently interact with Regulators.
 
The position offers opportunities to gain visibility into various market products, risk metrics and processes and would encompass report and metric development to capture line of business risks, product level stress assumption analysis and design, intraday stress by currency and payment type, policy and framework design and scenario analysis.
 
The role provides a unique opportunity to work on the Firmwide intraday risk center of excellence. This would involve driving execution, consistency and innovation through ongoing collaboration and enhancements across risk areas (e.g. work on cross-stripe initiatives, establishing consolidated Firmwide intraday risk playbook, assessing intraday stress framework across risk areas).
 
The nature of the position also offers significant opportunities to create a broad personal network across J.P. Morgan and visibility to senior management.
 
 
Specific Responsibilities
 
  • Monitoring and reporting intraday liquidity positions across wholesale and retail businesses
  • Establishing / monitoring intraday liquidity risk limits and indicators
  • Intraday liquidity stress assumption review, challenge, documentation and implementation
  • Partner on new business and risk initiatives; including intraday risk center of excellence, block chain initiatives and real time payments
  • Interact and partner with Business Units and other corporate functions in order to obtain, understand, analyze and draw conclusions with respect to potential intraday liquidity risks implications.
  • Risk lead for all Regulatory submission ( e.g. Recovery and Resolution)
  • Develop and present key risk analytic reports for senior management, business partners, various risk committees and regulators.
  • Partner with Firmwide business lines, to review new regulation and potential business impacts and solutions
  • Play a leading role in the on-going enhancement of the intraday liquidity risk management and measurement infrastructure
 
Qualifications:
 
  • 7+ years’ experience in risk management; liquidity/treasury risk, market risk, credit risk, preferably with a wide range of experience with quantitative, financial and risk management techniques and systems preferred
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as a high level of self-initiative required, including an ability to balance and execute multiple projects at once and deliver results under tight time constraints
  • Understanding of stress testing and stress construction
  • Understanding of payment and securities settlement services and experience with Operations is a plus
  • Understanding and experience with risk frameworks, governance models, and policies
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of liquidity risk management guidance, banking regulations and practices is a plus
  • Understanding of the governance and controls surrounding risk management groups, including risk appetite statements, risk limits/indicators
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership, influencing and negotiation skills. Easily able to build credibility with senior managers and garner support for new business initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across different businesses and functional areas
     
Education: An undergraduate degree is required. MBA is highly preferred
