General level of Job Responsibility

Evaluates credit applications for recommendation.  The purpose of this position is to facilitate Small Business loan portfolio growth and protect the bank from loss, maintaining acceptable asset quality.  Intermediate level officer with advanced experience. Underwrites credit transactions up to $3.0MM.  Assists management with key initiatives and projects.

 

Typical Job Duties

Independently analyzes, or at times may work with more senior Credit Officer, to evaluate the risk of adding a particular transaction to the bank's loan portfolio. Identifies additional information requirements needed to properly assess risks of the transaction. Considers alternative credit structures to mitigate risk where appropriate. Recommends action to be taken on credit, identifies key risks and information requirements. Ensures that credit facilities presented are properly graded. Usually works independently with limited direct supervision. Serves as a resource for less experienced Credit Officer

  • Demonstrated PC aptitude

  • Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional analysis 
  • Extensive knowledge of Chase credit philosophy and policies.  Thorough understanding of commercial credit structures, loan documentation, bankruptcy, and related legal issues 
  • Able to assess and articulate risk associated with requested exceptions to established credit policies and procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in accounting preferred
  • Bachelor degree in business, finance, or economics is acceptable.
  • Credit underwriting experience is a plus.
  • Manila CPA Certification and prior business credit experience preferred.  Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college course work
  • Typically 5-7 plus years experience as a credit underwriter or similar position requiring business knowledge and credit judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical, interpersonal skills and judgment skills.
  • Self motivated with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Should possess a good knowledge of bank systems and loan/credit operations.
  • Results oriented team player with a high level of proficiency in organizing, priority-setting and issues management a must.
  • Understanding of the company's financial statements, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and basic accounting standards
