CCB Risk
Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others


CCB Risk organization is investing in innovative ways to manage risk across the Consumer and Community Bank and is seeking an experienced Risk business architect to lead the development of a services oriented architecture.


The Risk Architecture Executive plays a key role in aligning business goals and objectives with capabilities and business and technology initiatives.  This individual will work to develop an integrated view of the Risk enterprise and a multiyear roadmap, using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. The Architecture Executive will act as a coach and mentor to junior members of the Business Architecture Center of Excellence.  In addition to being a seasoned, well trained professional, the successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to inspire confidence from, and to collaborate closely with technology leaders and internal stakeholders.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop Risk architecture strategy based on business goals and key initiatives
  • Establish structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing key views of the enterprise
  • Guide Risk teams in defining target state capabilities, business benefits and product requirements
  • Collaborate with technology to evaluate options, design solutions and develop an executable plan
  • Develop Risk’s multi-year roadmap and participate in the annual budget process by defining initiatives’ scope, quarterly sequencing, IT cross impacts, IT estimates and business benefits
  • Navigate the organization and partner with Risk leadership, Technology, Control, Finance and other functional partners to identify dependencies and deliver results
  • Provide leadership to cross functional teams based on business goals and senior management guidance, and proactively identify new approaches as business needs change
  • Communicate effectively with senior management to resolve conflicts through broad based decision making with key stakeholders.  
  • Manage issues and management decisions to timely resolution
  • Distribute regular program and management reporting for business leaders
  • Review Charters and Concept Design Documents to ensure initiatives align to Risk’s target state architecture
  • Stay abreast of relevant business and technology initiatives that are dependent on and/or impact Risk
  • Track industry trends, disruptive technology, alternative solutions and best practices
  • 10+ years of business/technology architecture, product management or relevant experience as well as record of individual technical achievement
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Business Management or comparable field of study
  • Mastery of infrastructure/platform, data and application architecture disciplines
  • Strong understanding of formal SDLCs
  • Ability to think strategically and to connect the dots to the bigger picture, while still comfortable diving into the details required to ensure successful execution
  • Expertise in working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
  • Track record of leading large scale development programs from a design/architecture perspective
  • Expertise driving development and deployment of new target operating models, frameworks, products, and/or major change initiatives
  • Experience of managing/leading multiple teams; Experience of leading within large organizations; Strong influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of consumer businesses as well as key compliance, regulatory & control, IT risk, legal and risk operational requirements and challenges
  • Keen understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including ability to succinctly advise senior management of risks, challenges and potential solutions; ability to construct effective management presentations on complex analyses and operational performance.  
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with changing and multiple priorities
