Primary responsibilities:
  • Serve as an internal consultant on executive compensation matters (e.g. to senior HR Business Partners, line managers and compensation professionals)
  • Provide expert advice that supports business strategy in all compensation-related decisions
  • Plan, organize, prepare and coordinate materials/presentations for the Compensation Management & Development Committee of the Board (CMDC) meetings
  • Manage a staff of professionals to conduct research, perform analysis and prepare high-quality presentations for senior executives, including Operating Committee members
  • Act as key interface for Office of the Secretary (OTS) and Investor Relations regarding proxy drafting, annual shareholder engagement efforts, and shareholder proposal responses and analyses
  • Conduct proxy statement studies and analyses of other publicly available data sources
  • Prepare the annual proxy report, including managing the preparation of related supporting documentation, controls and internal quality reviews for same; analyze and provide subject matter expertise for related special projects
  • Benchmark annual incentive plans and long-term incentive plan design and practices
  • Gather market intelligence and maintain best practice database of executive compensation structures/practices
  • Conduct statistical analyses of internal compensation data
  • Model financial impact of compensation plans/changes
  • Conduct performance metrics and pay-for-performance studies
  • Monitor executive and other compensation trends
  • Advise lines of business executives on plan exceptions and change implications
  • Review potential exceptions to policy on hiring awards, buyouts, retention plans, etc.
  • Develop strategies for responding to peer company program changes and advising Head of Executive Compensation on internally initiated ideas and considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in compensation, including consulting
  • 5+ years of experience in executive compensation
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills, with experience writing proposals and presenting to senior management
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and influence key stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision to initiate ideas and develop strategies for broader functional consideration
  • Proven leadership ability to motivate, manage and direct staff
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills
  • Expert proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in a business-related field, ideally with an emphasis in human resources, finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or accounting.
  • At least 8 years of experience in compensation in the public or private sector or a compensation consulting background.
Strong working knowledge of executive compensation programs, incentive plan design, pay structure and payout analysis, design principles, proxy analysis, independent research, business analysis, finance and tax, regulatory and compliance
