The Platform Manager is a leadership position within the Business Services Software Engineering organization. The Platform Manager  will be responsible for the infrastructure components that the application runs on. This includes web servers, application servers, databases, queue managers, file systems, certificates, ids, and related configurations

  • Manage team of engineers based in USA and India
  • Collaborate with various firm-wide engineering teams to ensure these infrastructure components are running within SLA and within capacity thresholds and are patched to latest standards
  • Build internal tooling sourcing from firm-wide repositories so we understand relationship between all components that make up application stack
  • Manage infrastructure migrations, upgrades, data center restacks in collaboration with firm-wide engineering teams
  • Provide technical/engineering leadership on the evolution of this stack to more modern components like API gateways, containers, internal and external cloud implementations
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in information technology including 5+ years as a platform lead/manager building enterprise scale or internet/customer facing systems at a Fortune 500 organization
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes
  • Keen understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages:  Java, .NET, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
  • Command of infrastructure management covering provisioning, application deployment, monitoring and capacity planning
  • Mastery of infrastructure, application, and data architecture disciplines
  • Command of infrastructure management covering provisioning, application deployment, monitoring and capacity planning
  • Expertise in working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
  • 3+ years of experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience building internet scale web service/API/data platforms from the ground up
  • Strong understanding of network components - Load Balancers (F5, HAProxy), Web Servers (Apache/NGINX)
  • Strong understanding of messaging components - MQ, IBM Data Power. Kafka
  • Strong understanding of application servers -  IBM Websphere, Tomcat
  • Experience with multiple database platforms (DB2, Cassandra) and thorough knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
  • Experience with PAAS platforms like Cloud Foundry
  • Experience with container ecosystems (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Envoy, Istio, Prometheus)
  • Experience implementing API gateway products like IBM API Connect , Apigee, CA-Layer 7, Mashery, Kong
  • Experience with open source frameworks Netflix OSS, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, Spring Batch, Spring Web Services
  • Extensive experience designing and building REST and SOAP web services using Java @ internet scale
  • Experience with caching products like Gemfire and Hazelcast
