The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a highly visible and impactful role that   pro-actively drives the technical stability, performance, reliability and quality of our product delivery. This person will work with our architects, and infrastructure software engineering teams to design, build, automate testing, automate continuous integration & deployment for building the product correct and great thereby reducing technical debt, improved engineering excellence, improved reliability of the software for faster time to market.
 
SDET automate fault detection, containment, and resolution for PSI/VSI systems engineering without customer impact or human intervention. Working in an Agile DevOps model with Architecture, Operations, Application Development and Infrastructure engineers, they pro-actively develop reusable patterns/solutions that enhance the health and performance of our global platforms, and identify/solve chronic technical issues. They ensure that the developed solutions address functional and non-functional requirements.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Work with our architects, and infrastructure software engineering teams to design, build, automate testing, automate continuous integration & deployment for building the product correct and great thereby reducing technical debt, improved engineering excellence, improved reliability of the software for faster time to market.
  • Ensure that the developed solutions address functional and non-functional requirements:
    • Develop and drive automation test planning, cases, and strategy across several component teams, to both insure product quality, reliability and to contribute to Continuous Integration and Delivery efforts.
    • Build and own PSI/VSI Automation framework for iDEV, UAT and PROD deployments with a measurable and acceptable quality metrics for deployable Infrastructure
    • Build, Manage and Own PSI/VSI Regression Suite
    • Define, Measure and Adhere to Quality Toll Gates
    • Define, Measure and Own Infrastructure Acceptance criteria for cross environments
    • Automate Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing by building Automated Functional Tests enabling Continuous Deployment and Delivery
  • Responsible for managing Test Environments
  • Release Management
    • Manage release artifacts and configuration management
    • Develop Automated Continuous Deployment Pipeline using AIM
    • Review and Deploy Infrastructure

This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems.  Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter.  The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
 
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field of study/equivalent experience. Graduate level engineering degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering in Test experience, focusing primarily on designing and building automation frameworks using one or more object oriented programming languages and or scripting.
  • 3+ years of Hands-on experience with cloud-based applications, technologies and tools, deployment, monitoring and operations in productions systems support environment, focusing on:
    • Linux/Unix operating system support
    • Unix Shell Scripts (Boure shell, Korn shell), Java/C/C++/Python/OOP
    • Development experience with the following tools: Selenium WebDriver, TestNG/JUnit, Cucumber, Jenkins/CI tools, JIRA, GIT/SVN)
  • Good knowledge of technical architecture/infrastructure Networking (Security, Load Balancing, Network Routing Protocols, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of SQL, relational Database, DBMS
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills
  • Good troubleshooting skills required
  • Able to work and deliver within a distributed team environment
     
Preferred Skills:
  • Full life cycle experience within an Agile framework
  • VMWare ESXi support experience (vSphere, vCenter, vRO)
  • Mission critical systems experience in a globally distributed framework
  • Experience with DevOps model and tools
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering
