This is an application development role within Asset Management – Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Technology Team based in Newark, Delaware. As an Application Developer, the candidate will be required to provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within mature technology environments. The role will involve working with Technology team members globally. 

The role will include the following major functions/responsibilities:

  • Define the long term strategy, help to build and define a roadmap
  • Work with the operations team, the business, technology teams, and technology management to identify demand, plan, prioritize and execute against planned demand
  • Partner with the business group and technology teams to understand business drivers and then design and architect the appropriate technology solutions to satisfy the business drivers
  • Validate/recommend technology solutions
  • Validate time and resource requirements
  • Oversee the assignment of work responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate development activities and demonstrate improvements in developer efficiencies
  • Change Management oversight
  • Mentor and lead the team by example
  • Effectively communicate (both written and verbal), to all levels of the organization, to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Design, implement, test and maintain major server-side components and web applications.

  • Implement back-end components of an n-tier application, including data model, data access objects, and application logic.

  • Research and prototype new technologies as appropriate.


The work environment is one of conflicting demands and tight deadlines.  The successful candidate will need to be able to juggle multiple projects with frequent changes in priority. 

This requires the ability to interact effectively with the following types of stakeholders:

  • Clients. These could be business, operations, compliance users or other technology groups who are dependent on the group’s application and data.   The ability to manage this group’s expectations is important as is the ability to manage the balance between tactical and strategic solutions in a fast paced environment.

  • Other technology groups. The candidate will need to work effectively with technologists across Asset Management and Infrastructure.  The candidate must successfully partner with and influence other technology leaders.

  • Team members. This position calls for the management of a technology organization within the context of a global Operations organization.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to motivate technologists with different skill sets, levels of expertise, and relationships to the organization and locations.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Enterprise Application Development using Java/JavaScript, J2EE, EJB, XML, Web Services/SOA and HTML.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading development teams
  • Advanced knowledge of Javascript.
  • Experience with open source frameworks: Open source frameworks,  e.g., Spring, Hibernate, Struts, JSTL
  • Experience with ANT, Maven build/deployment process.
  • Proficient in PL/SQL, including triggers, stored procedures, queries is  a must
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Strong understanding of object oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with system, application, and process documentation including tools such as MS-Visio, etc.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with GIT/BitBucket Source Code management techniques/ tools for software management, Knowledge SDLC tools (JIRA).
  • Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work with diversified multi-location team.
  • Experience with working on Agile/Scrum method of product implementation and delivery.
  • Experience in Asset Management Technology applications preferred.
  • Experience with implementing workflow applications is a plus.
  • Experience with implementing a rules engine is a plus.
  • Experience with React or Angular 2 is a plus.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with microservices architecture is a plus.
  • Experience working with Big Data Platforms is a plus.
