Our department - Global Market Infrastructure


Global Market Infrastructures (“GMI”) team is part of the Corporate & Investment Bank Chief Administrative Office and is responsible for the selection and management of the network of agent banks used by the firm.  In this role, the group covers the purchasing and maintenance of securities services (custody and clearing) and cash services (payments and other foreign currency services) for LOBs firm-wide.  The group also maintains third party oversight of Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs) relationships in which J.P. Morgan is a direct participant, such as central counterparties, central securities depositories and payment systems.  Currently, that network spans nearly 200 financial market infrastructures and over 400 agent banks, including sub-custodians, nostro account relationships, and cash agent/partner banks in over 100 markets.  The team works closely with these entities and regulatory authorities in each country to identify market practices, tax rules & strategies, and rules associated with foreign investment. 


As a firm-wide function, GMI is comprised of over 130 team members, supporting multiple LOBs including Corporate & Investment Bank (i.e. TS, IS, Markets), Commercial Bank, and Asset Management. GMI provides a global focus for the firm in order to leverage buying power worldwide, developing in- and out-sourcing initiatives, and management of the associated risks.


Opportunity – Market Infrastructure Oversight (MIO)


The Market Infrastructure Oversight team establishes and executes on procedures in support of the due diligence and oversight processes of the management of network agent banks. As a member of the team you will be tasked with the creation and updates of the Final Assessment Reports (FAR) and maintaining the day to day control environment by driving the key priorities within the team to improve efficiency. Partner with internal business partners to identify, monitor and report risk and identify opportunities and improve the existing network management TPO process.   



Key responsibilities:


  • Establish excellent relationship with regional market managers and internal business partners

  • Update the relevant fields of the Final Assessment Report (FAR) before sending to MIO Controller for review

  • Perform end to end level 2 review of the FAR

  • Leverage documentation and internal information to close any Gaps in the FAR

  • Meet quality and throughput targets

  • Case management and administrative support in organizing meetings with stakeholders

  • Partner with the MIO, Market Managers, internal business partners and technology to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report risk

  • Manage issues and action item management along with remediation activities

  • Identify opportunities and improve existing network management TPO processes and reporting including agent banks / FMIs scorecard process and MIS generation

  • Assist with core metrics of the MIO processes



The successful candidate will assume an associate role, supporting the location lead with the FAR process for MIO. This includes oversite and managing issues and action items along with remediation activities, the creation and updates of the FAR’s and maintaining the day to day control environment by driving the key priorities. The candidate will have strong adherence to procedures and controls, and should be analytical and risk and control inclined. The role involves frequent communication with Market Managers and internal Business Partners, to ensure the accuracy and completion of the FAR’s.


Essential skills:

  • Proven analytical and problem solving ability – must be detail oriented

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (i.e. MS Excel; Word) with a particular focus on Excel

  • Preferred experience in the financial services industry and knowledge of the banking services across Cash and Securities business;

  • Excellent organization and time management skills - Able to deliver results and meet deadlines under pressure

  • Organized, methodical and analytical in approach with strong sense of deliverables.

  • Dynamic personality who is able to offer credible challenge in a constructive and collaborative fashion

  • Able to make sound judgment and independent decisions

  • Work as a trusted partner and advocate with excellent communication skills
