Reporting into the Regional HRBP for Global Finance & Business Management (GF&BM) Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) will support GF&BM and Risk. This role requires a strong team player who thrives in a demanding, fast paced global environment. It is important for the individual to be able to operate effectively within a highly matrixed organization and be able to leverage resources from multiple areas to deliver results. This role will identify and develop solutions based on business priorities and organizational analysis whilst overseeing the implementation of HR policies, programs and services.

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will identify and develop solutions based on business priorities and organizational analysis.  Your responsibilities will include consulting with all levels of management on compensation, development, staffing, employee relations, organizational and change management issues
You will partner with HR colleagues in specialist functions including the Learning & Development, Recruitment, and Compensation and Benefits management teams to develop and implement specific HR programs directly aligned to business strategy including: incentive plans, JPMorgan Chase Employee Opinion Survey, 360 feedback, diversity initiatives, performance management and mobility and career development. Additionally, you will act as an employee advocate - insuring that employees and managers are able to express concerns in a manner that is respectful of all individuals and supportive of our goal to be "The Employer of Choice."
On the HR side, the individual will partner with:
  • HRBPs in the Asia Region to ensure alignment in HR delivery to their aligned businesses
  • HR colleagues including Recruitment, Compensation, Development and ER to develop and implement HR initiatives aligned to business needs
  • HR colleagues globally and across the region to develop and implement specific HR solutions directly aligned to business strategy.
On the business side, the individual will:
  • Work in partnership with business stakeholders to consult with and provide advice and recommendations on a full spectrum of HR activities, i.e. people management, employee relations, compensation, staffing, performance management, career and talent management, employee counselling, HR policies & procedures, learning & development.
  • Manage complex ongoing business challenges, providing creative and pragmatic advice/guidance to business stakeholders to effectively manage and resolve human capital issues whilst ensuring all actions confirm to regulatory/ legislative; best practice and corporate policies
  • Assume a leadership role in driving the HR agenda in alignment with the business strategy and leveraging best practices
  • Provide Employee Relations advice on complex HR issues and recommend solutions in a timely fashion following established guidelines. Support and coach managers on matters including:  flexible working arrangements, absence and sickness, grievances, disciplinary issues and redundancies
  • Drive the development of a world-class HR culture by personal example, leadership and actions, incorporating local market conditions where relevant, but always with a view to Best Practice from an international perspective.
  • Continuously update, expand, and proactively communicate, this knowledge to all relevant internal stakeholders across lines of business and functions.
  • Facilitate the compensation process including: maintaining data integrity, job matching, analyzing and auditing data, educating managers on the firm's compensation philosophy and year end communications, and coaching managers in making fair, robust and well differentiated decisions around employee pay and promotion
  • Change Management – Facilitate change and seize opportunities to introduce improvements to current practices and procedures taking into account, where appropriate, different LOB operating philosophies.
  • Lead talent management programs by identifying future leaders, succession plans, promotion candidates, competency gaps, mobility opportunities and diverse talent.


  • Human Resources generalist experience in the financial services industry strongly preferred; degree or equivalent. HR certifications a plus
  • Minimum 7 years’ HR Generalist or related HR experience, including a demonstrated ability to provide HR advisory support as described above. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working partnerships with clients as well as HR colleagues, managing and navigating a highly complex and matrixed organization with the ability to operate effectively in an often ambiguous environment.
  • Strong consulting, coaching, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Previous experience of influencing culturally diverse HR teams and flexibility to work with colleagues and clients in a complex matrixed organization, across different time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, work and provide practical solutions to the senior leadership team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, able to manage multiple projects, understand business P&L and drive execution.
  • Strong analytical skills required to identify HR-related trends within the business via metrics and other analytical tools, in order to make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Solid technology, reporting, reconciliation and quantitative skills. Knowledge of business application and HR systems (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, Manager Connection) a plus
