The Philanthropy Centre at J.P. Morgan works with, and on behalf of, clients of J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
Its mission is to enhance philanthropic impact globally by offering clients and their families strategic and innovative advice, access to global thought leaders and unique opportunities to collaborate with peer philanthropists.
Role & Responsibilities
The Philanthropy Associate will work in partnership with the Senior Philanthropy Advisors to: (1) help clients successfully build and execute their philanthropic strategy; (2) cultivate a network of cross-sector leaders dedicated to furthering the advancement of the philanthropic sector; (3) plan and host distinguished events designed to provide clients and partners the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded peers; (4) curate thought leadership pieces in effort to educate clients and partners on philanthropic topics and trends; (5) engage in select media opportunities to further position The Philanthropy Centre as a thought leader in the sector.
The Philanthropy Associate will be expected to:
  • Assist the Senior Philanthropic Advisor with client relationship management.
  • Prepare client presentations and related material.
  • Coordinate information and communication with clients and assist with follow up.
  • Participate in client meetings: advise on best practices in philanthropic giving, including: philanthropic vehicle selection; vision and mission statements; funding guidelines; operating procedures; governance matters; succession issues; and strategic grant making.
  • Assist in new business development.
  • Maintain and update internal tracking documents and weekly reports to senior management.
  • Maintain a strong professional and community network and broad understanding of the target market community to build and maintain relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Plan, facilitate and speak at donor educational forums, board meetings and other client activities designed to highlight best practices in philanthropy.
We seek candidates with strong analytical and interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment. Successful candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well as an integrated member of a team.  Candidates should have the initiative and confidence to complete projects with limited supervision and apply judgment and discretion in working with highly confidential information.  Meticulous attention to detail is required. Experience working with nonprofit organizations is essential.
Specific qualifications include:
  • Bachelor Degree in related field.
  • 5 to 7 years experience in a nonprofit organization, foundation or related field.
  • Willingness to travel for business.
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic and fast paced corporate setting.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
