The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm’s lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the businesses and staff areas and for the lines of business and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the legal teams in a timely manner.
Chase’s Consumer Banking and Wealth Management line of business operates in approximately 5,400 branches and provides financial services to roughly 23 million households across 23 states. We are a leading bank in our key markets and provide deposit and wealth management solutions to consumers through branch, phone and internet channels.
JPMorgan Chase is seeking talented candidates for a position in the Legal Department as an Assistant General Counsel for the Consumer Banking and Wealth Management line of business, reporting to the Consumer Banking Associate General Counsel whose team is responsible for providing advice and counsel related to branch operations, field support, product and sales. The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of the laws and regulations applicable to consumer branch banking, a proven record of leadership, as well as the ability not only to provide sound and very practical legal counsel in complex situations, but also to influence others to implement their advice.
Preferred locations for the position are Chicago, IL or Columbus, Ohio. Candidates will also be considered in New York, New York.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide practical and actionable legal advice regarding federal and state laws and regulations applicable to consumer banking products and sales, as well as bank branching and field operations. Advise with respect to checking and savings products and services, ATMs, customer-facing content, and related issues.
- Partner with Business, Compliance, Controls and Risk leadership to support business objectives and well run, controlled and compliant operations.
- Partner with colleagues across the Legal Department.
- All other duties as necessary or assigned to provide high caliber line of business legal support.
